Category Z work visa.

This type of visa is issued to foreign citizens and their family members who have come to China to work. The visa is issued on the condition that an Employment Permit in the People's Republic of China and an application for employment from a Chinese employer be submitted to the local Labor Department.

At the same time, there are two types of visa of this type:

Z1 is issued to those foreigners who are employed for more than three months.

Z2 - given to foreigners accepted to work for three months or less.

How long is a working visa to China issued for?

A work visa is issued by the consulate for up to six months or a year. Entry Corridor 3 months during which you must enter and register to receive temporary residence permit (residence permit).

The main paper is an invitation from a Chinese company.

If you plan to stay in China for a long time, you will need to take care of obtaining a residence visa in this country (VNP).

Legalization of documents for a work visa to China.

Documents issued on the territory of another state are not valid in the PRC, unless they have undergone consular legalization in accordance with all the rules. Legalization of documents (translated into English or Chinese) takes place at the authorized body of the foreigner's country of residence, and then at the Chinese consulate.

For legalization, you are required to:

• A copy of the internal passport (pages with marks);
• Copy of the first page of the foreign passport;
• A copy of the identification code;

The document to be legalized in the original. On the basis of legalized documents, your employer will be able to draw up and send you an invitation for employment.

For a work visa to China, you need to legalize 2 main documents:

• diploma of education
• certificate of criminal record.

These documents must be requested from all visa applicants.

What documents are required to apply for a visa to China?

For artists (original documents from the employer:

• Confirmation of online registration for submitting documents;
• Confirmation of the visa application and visa application form (it is necessary to indicate the full name of the applicant);
• All passports and Chinese visas received in the last three years (original and copy);
• Original work permit;
• The latest education documents received by the applicant (original and copy). The main content of the document must be indicated on the copy in English or Chinese (optional);
• The original and a copy of a certificate from the place of work or a certificate of professional qualification (if any).
• The original and a copy of the employment contract, which must include information about the essence, period, place of work, as well as payments and accommodation. The contact details of the employer must be specified in the contract.
• Employer's commercial activity license (copy).
• A handwritten undertaking that the applicant will not engage in work in the territory of China that does not correspond to that specified in the work permit;
• If there is a previous foreign passport or a second valid one, copies of all pages must be provided;
• Proof that you have one passport. It is needed if:

- you have one valid passport;

- you had a previous foreign passport, but you surrendered/lost it and you have no copies left.

For other professions (documents with a barcode):

• Confirmation of online registration for submitting documents;
• Confirmation of the visa application and visa application form (it is necessary to indicate the full name of the applicant);
• All passports and Chinese visas received in the last three years (original and copy);
• License for commercial performances (original and copy) or notification of permission to work for a foreigner in China;
• The latest education documents received by the applicant (original and copy). The main content of the document must be indicated on the copy in English or Chinese (optional);
• A certificate from the place of work or an official document confirming professional qualifications (original and copy). The main content of the document must be indicated on the copy in English or Chinese (optional).
• An employment contract signed with the employer (original and copy), which should include information about the essence, period, place of work, as well as payments and accommodation. The contact details of the employer must be specified in the contract.
• Employer's commercial activity license (copy).
• An applicant applying for a work visa for commercial performances must provide video footage of the performances.
• Proof that you have one passport. It is needed if:

- you have one valid passport;

- you had a previous foreign passport, but you surrendered/lost it and you have no copies left.

Importantly! Currently, the main document required for opening a work visa to China is a work permit. It can be provided in the form of a copy, but only on condition that it has a bar code, which the consulate can use to verify the authenticity of the document.

We must warn you that it is not possible to open a work visa to China only by invitation or contract.

Relevant requirements: 

1. The above documents must be drawn up in accordance with the order specified in the list.

2. The visa application form must be filled out online either in Chinese or in English. After completing the questionnaire, you will be able to go to the online registration site.

3. The applicant may also submit other documents he deems necessary. An employee of the Consulate has the right to request additional documents from the applicant.

4. The decision to issue an urgent visa remains at the discretion of the Consulate employee.

According to Chinese law, illegal work in the country is not only punishable by fines and deportation, but also criminal liability.
