Do Ukrainians need a visa to Liechtenstein?


Ukrainians do not need a visa to visit Liechtenstein for a period of up to 90 days within every 180 days. This applies to short-term trips for tourism, business or personal purposes.

New EU border crossing rules for Ukrainians from October 2025


Starting from October 12, 2025, the EES (Entry/Exit System), an automated entry and exit control system for third-country nationals, including Ukrainians, will be in place at the borders of the EU and Schengen countries.


What is the EES?


EES is an electronic database that will replace traditional passport stamps. Now all travel data will be stored digitally:


  • date, time and border crossing point;
  • data of the passport;
  • face photo;
  • Fingerprints (for persons over 12 years of age).


The system is applicable for short-term trips of up to 90 days within any 180-day period.


What will change for Ukrainians?


When crossing the border for the first time, Ukrainians will need to undergo biometric registration (photo and fingerprints). After that, traveling will become faster: it will be enough to scan your passport, and the system will automatically pull up all the data.


Also:

  • passports will no longer be stamped;
  • refusal to provide biometric data = refusal of entry;
  • data will be stored in the system for 3 years, after which it will be updated.


Where will the EES operate?


The system has been introduced at the entrance to all EU countries except Ireland and Cyprus. It also operates in 4 non-EU Schengen countries:


- Norway,

- Switzerland,

- Iceland,

- Liechtenstein.


In total, these are 29 countries, including Poland, Germany, the Czech Republic, Spain, Italy, France, and other popular destinations for Ukrainians.


Who is not covered by the new rules?


The EES does not apply to:

  • EU citizens and residents;
  • holders of long-term visas or residence permits.


What's next?


Approximately six months after the launch of EES, another innovation will be introduced - ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorization System). This will be an electronic entry permit that will need to be issued online before traveling.


  • The cost is 7 euros (children and pensioners are exempt).
  • The permit will be valid for 3 years and does not need to be reissued before each trip.

What documents are required to enter Liechtenstein for Ukrainians?


To enter Liechtenstein you must have:

  • Biometric passport (valid for at least 3 months after the planned departure from Liechtenstein).
  • Health insurance covering the entire period of your stay.


For traveling with children:

  • Children must have their own biometric passport or be inscribed in the passport of one of the parents.
  • If the child is traveling with one of the parents, no consent is required.
  • If the child is traveling with relatives or friends, it is necessary to have a notarized consent from both parents.



Do I need a Green Card to travel by car to Liechtenstein?


Yes, the Green Card is mandatory for anyone traveling abroad by car, including refugees.

Can I travel to Liechtenstein with pets? What documents are needed?


Yes, it is possible to travel to Liechtenstein with pets, but you need to have them:

  • A microchip installed according to international standards (ISO).
  • A European passport for the animal, which shows all vaccinations, including rabies vaccination (vaccination must be carried out at least 21 days before entry).
  • A veterinary certificate confirming the animal's good health.



Do I need health insurance to travel to Liechtenstein?


Yes, health insurance is compulsory to visit Liechtenstein. It must cover possible medical expenses of at least 30,000 euros. This is an important requirement that will provide you with protection in case of unforeseen situations. You can apply for health insurance on our website here.



How much money do you need to enter Liechtenstein in 2026?


There is no fixed official amount for entering Liechtenstein in 2026, but according to the Schengen Area rules, it is customary to show approximately 100 Swiss francs (≈ €100) per person per day of stay as proof of sufficient funds. For students, this recommended amount may be lower — around 30 francs per day.
