Bukovel, Dragobrat, Slavske and others: how ski resorts of Ukraine work during blackouts

The 2022/2023 ski season is taking place in Ukraine under conditions of war. However, the winter resorts of the Carpathians and other regions of Ukraine are happy to welcome guests. Learn more about the resort's blackout schedule
This year, the winter tourist season will be held in conditions of full-scale war. However, business is working, creating new jobs and supporting the economy. Ski resorts in the 2022-2023 season will give every Ukrainian an opportunity to reload and return to the defense of Ukraine on various fronts with renewed strength.
We found out which resorts are ready to meet tourists and how the complexes plan to work in the event of a lack of electricity.
Trip to Bukovel
The most popular ski resort of Ukraine announced on its Facebook page on December 15 that the 2022-2023 season will be. Bukovel - the heart of the Carpathians invites everyone for inspiration.
Of course, the format of the rest will undergo certain changes, in particular:
• there will be no night skating;
• holiday parties in the center and New Year's entertainment will be canceled, but the Christmas tree will create a festive mood for children;
• the Apres Ski zone will operate as a recreation area, but without an entertainment program.
In the Ivano-Frankivsk region, as well as throughout Ukraine, scheduled and emergency power outages occur. However, the resort and most businesses around it have provided themselves with alternative power sources. Currently, the observation lift and most facilities are running on generators. Of course, in the event of a total blackout, changes in the resort's operating mode are possible.

Rest in Dragobrat
The highest mountain ski resort of Ukraine "Dragobrat" is located at an altitude of 1400 m and is a rather remote place for recreation. This resort has experience of working in conditions of power outages, because due to weather conditions, they happen here quite often, many hotels and ski lifts have their own generators.
Children's and adult ski passes are already being actively sold on the resort's website, and a promotional sale has recently ended.
Therefore, we suggest that you start planning your trip:
• Ski tour to Dragobrat + Hutsul entertainment.
"Zakhar Berkut" (Slavske village)
"Zakhar Berkut" - a ski resort near the village of Slavske also continues to work. As stated on the official website of the complex, they have everything for this: light according to the schedule, there is always heat, water and the Internet. A generator is used to operate the restaurant. Currently, the team of the complex is actively working on providing the entire resort with alternative sources of electricity.
Until December 25, the holiday pre-sale of ski passes for the new season 2022-2023 at last year's prices is valid.
In addition, "Ukrzaliznytsia" launched the "Ski Express" from Kyiv to Slavsky. The train will run from December 30.
• Departure from Kyiv every day at 5:59 am, and will arrive in Slavsky at 1:55 pm;
• It will depart at 14:10 in the afternoon and arrive in Kyiv at 22:07 in the evening.
The route passes through Lviv, Stryi and Skole stations.
Rest in Bukovytsia
Bukovytsia is a new ski resort in the Lviv region, where you can go skiing, snowboarding and tubing. The institution is actively preparing for the new season. Prices for season tickets in the new season have already been published on the resort's official website. It was also reported in Bukovytsia that despite the difficult situation, the prices for season tickets and equipment have not changed at all this year. The snowmaking systems are already working, but it will take a few more days of frost to open the lifts.

Krasiya (Transcarpathia)
The "Krasiya" ski complex in Transcarpathia has already announced its work during winter of 2022/2023. However, more detailed information is expected soon on the official website of the complex.
Also, the Association of Hotels and Resorts of Ukraine (UHRA) conducted a survey among hoteliers and created an interactive map with establishments that have their own generators. The list is constantly updated, so follow the link and look for establishments with alternative power sources in the largest ski resorts of Ukraine.
