The ban on visiting the Odesa coast is still in effect. The Pivden Management Company has already announced its forecasts for the "beach season" in Odesa this year. We will tell you whether Lanzheron and Arcadia will wait for tourists
There will be no beach season this year because of the mine danger. This was recently reported by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
Natalia Gumenyuk, head of the Joint Coordination Press Center of the Southern Defense Forces, announced the cancellation of the holiday season in Odesa. The decision of the authorities put an end to rumors about the possibility of vacationing on Odesa beaches.
It is currently impossible due to the military actions of the russian federation, but some entrepreneurs are planning to open their establishments on the coast.
Safety remains a priority
Currently, Ukrainians are waiting for the Odesa Regional State Administration to make a decision on whether to open the beaches. Despite the desire to stimulate the economy and allow local businesses to develop, safety remains a top priority.
"Local authorities have been warned that it is inappropriate to open the holiday season. We have informed the local authorities about the threats that may be present", - said Humeniuk at the briefing.
Serhiy Bratchuk, a spokesman for the Odesa Regional Military Command, also emphasized the danger at sea, as he said russia had thrown at least 400 sea mines to the coast.
Vacation in Odesa 2023
"Access to the beaches will be limited until the victory is won," said the spokesman for the Odesa Regional Military Administration. However, recreation is not canceled for the citizens. According to him, local authorities will create special safe recreation areas with indoor pools and shelters.
He also added that last year's experience will force them to tighten control over recreation facilities: "There will be no 'dancing on bones' in Odesa, because wartime has appropriate requirements."
We would like to add that the curfew will not be changed yet, but it may be adjusted in the future.
What was the beach season like in Odesa in 2022?
This year is no different from the last. In 2022, the beach season did not officially start. But this did not stop Odesa residents and tourists from sunbathing and swimming in the sea. Unfortunately, there were some tragedies.
In the summer, a man's head was blown off by a mine. He ignored the ban and decided to enjoy the sea. Another tragedy occurred on the beach of the Ruta recreation center (in Zatoka). An anti-ship mine exploded there and killed three people.
