According to the results of a sociological survey conducted by the Razumkov Center's sociological service in cooperation with the Kucheriv Democratic Initiatives Foundation in the spring of 2023: an unprecedented number of Ukrainians, namely 94% of respondents, agree that putin is the Hitler of the 21st century.

Is putin a modern-day Hitler? Poll results

To the question, "Do you agree with the statement that putin is Hitler today?" 82.2% of Ukrainians from across the country answered in the affirmative. However, the results of the survey have some differences in different regions of Ukraine, as follows:

  • Western Ukraine

- 89.3% of respondents strongly agree;

- 6.3% - rather agree than disagree;

- 0.2% - rather disagree than agree;

- 0.9% - completely disagree with the statement;

- 3.3% - could not answer the question;

  • Central part of the country

- 81.9% - strongly agree;

- 12.1% - rather agree than disagree;

- 1.5% - rather disagree than agree;

- 0.9% - completely disagree with the statement;

- 3.6% - could not answer the question;

  • Southern part of the country:

- 72.9% - strongly agree;

- 21% - rather agree than disagree;

- 2.4% - rather disagree than agree;

- 1% - completely disagree with the statement;

- 2.9% - could not answer the question;

  • Eastern part of the country

- 78.2% - strongly agree;

- 13.9% - rather agree than disagree;

- 2.2% - rather disagree than agree;

- 2% - completely disagree with the statement;

- 3.7% - could not answer the question.

Therefore, despite the countless russian crimes, the occupation of territories and the genocide of the Ukrainian people, according to sociologists, some Ukrainian citizens are still vulnerable to the influence of russian propaganda.

Details: how the survey was conducted

The survey was conducted using the face-to-face method, i.e. in the format of a personal interview. The sample included respondents from all regions of Ukraine, except for Donetsk and Luhansk regions and the Autonomous Republic of Crimea. In addition, it should be noted that the territories of Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv and Kherson regions are under partial occupation, so the survey was conducted only in the parts of the regions controlled by Ukraine that are not in the direct combat zone.

In total, the sample included 2017 people, all of whom were of legal age. According to sociologists, the theoretical margin of error is 2.3%. However, it should be borne in mind that there are systematic deviations that are directly caused by russia's aggression against Ukraine, namely the forced displacement of several million citizens to other regions of the country.

Reaction of Ukrainian citizens to racist atrocities

In addition, during the survey, respondents were asked which war crimes of the russian federation had struck them the most. The most popular answers were:

  • Tortured and shot people in Bucha - 63.2%;
  • targeted attack on the drama theater in Mariupol - 43.8%;
  • the deliberate mass murder of prisoners of war from the Azovstal plant and the Ilyich plant in Olenivka - 40.2%;
  • shooting and torture of Ukrainians in the town of Izium - 35.6%;
  • targeted rocket attacks on high-rise buildings in Odesa, Kryvyi Rih, Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, Kramatorsk and other cities - 34.7%.

The results of the survey make it clear that the war crimes committed by the russian leadership have left a deep mark on the memory of the people of Ukraine, which once again underlines the need and importance of restoring the freedom of the state and punishing putin and all those involved in the atrocities.
