Why is Eurovision 2023 an important contest for Ukraine?

International competitions are extremely important for Ukraine. Such international unity and the fact that the word "war" is openly used on stage is another step towards ending the russian aggression.

"We understand that this is an entertainment show, but for me it is very important that no one hides what is happening, but rather focuses on it," commented this year's host of the competition, the leader of the Ukrainian band Hardkiss, Yulia Sanina.

The task of the whole world is not to forget what is happening in Ukraine and to make every effort to stop the war. Symbolically, the song "You'll never walk alone" was performed on stage. This is another confirmation of the world's support.

"It is important for us that the honest word 'war' is used during the Eurovision Song Contest in Liverpool. It should also be important for the whole world. The world should understand why we cannot exercise our legal right to host Eurovision 2023 in Ukraine - because of russia's brutal aggression," said Oleksandr Tkachenko, Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine.

We are immensely grateful to the world for their support and invite them to visit Ukraine after the victory. We guarantee that the picturesque landscapes of our homeland will not leave anyone indifferent.
