In early June, the world unofficially celebrates Friends' Day. During the full-scale war, many countries have demonstrated that they are loyal comrades of Ukraine. We are going to tell you who they are - the true friends of our country.

Over the past year, Ukrainians have seen that friends really are friends in need. Numerous statements by leaders of different countries and material assistance from them do not go unnoticed and give Ukrainians confidence in the future.

We would like to note that in 2022, Forbes published a rating of Ukraine's true friends, which included 20 countries. The list includes Poland, Estonia, Latvia, the United States, Lithuania, and Portugal, countries that, in addition to their joint support, have unequivocally recognized russia's genocide against the Ukrainian people. The list also includes the United Kingdom, Italy, Spain, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, France, Canada, the Netherlands, Bulgaria, Denmark, Germany, Norway, Romania, and the United States.

Many of them, in support of Ukraine, expelled russian diplomats from their countries. Poland, France, and Germany said "Goodbye" to about forty diplomats, while Bulgaria said "Goodbye" to as many as 81 representatives of the russian embassy.

Visits to Ukraine

Visits from abroad were also important, as friends usually come to visit. Some state leaders even visited Ukraine several times, showing that they are not afraid of putin and have a clear position.

The leaders of Britain and Poland have visited Ukraine the most times during the war - three times each. The leaders of Latvia, Lithuania, and Canada visited us twice each.

Support for Ukraine: finance, weapons and humanitarian aid

Ukraine receives various types of support: military, financial, and humanitarian. In 2022, the allies provided about $30 billion in financial assistance to our country, according to the Ministry of Finance. According to other sources, in just six months of the war, we received 39 billion euros, not just financial, but military aid.

The United States

The United States is the leader in material support. At the beginning of the war, they allocated a $1 billion aid package to Ukraine, which included weapons. After that, the flow of aid never stopped. In total, we have received $10 billion in grants, which are not required to be paid back.

Germany

During the war since 2022, Germany has provided Ukraine with military equipment, including multiple launch rocket systems, armored personnel carriers, self-propelled guns, and air defense systems. As part of the latest military aid package alone, Berlin provided Kyiv with $2.7 billion worth of weapons.

The United Kingdom

The voice of the United Kingdom has become loud, as it has shown great commitment to Ukraine and constantly calls on the world to support it. London is constantly initiating the provision of the latest weapons to Kyiv, such as long-range Storm Shadow missiles. Also, the UK was one of the first to advocate for the provision of 4th generation fighters, including F-16s, to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Poland

Poland should be mentioned separately. The total assistance from Warsaw amounts to about 7 billion euros in various areas. For example, the Poles were the first to accept refugees, constantly send humanitarian aid, support us in the political arena, and provide us with weapons.

The European Union

For the first time in history, the European Union is providing military assistance to the country during the war. It has also imposed sanctions that have become a lever of pressure on russia. Last year alone, the EU helped Ukraine in the military sphere to the tune of almost $12 billion.

Other

Other countries have also provided funds for various needs (both humanitarian and military). Among them are Japan, France, Italy, Finland, Norway, and others.

It is also worth paying attention not only to the financial support of Ukraine during the war, but also to the prospects of assistance from Ukrainian friends after the end of hostilities, as Ukraine has a difficult path to go through in rebuilding the state.

It will cost up to a trillion dollars to rebuild Ukraine after the war. And although no one knows exactly when peace will come, some European countries are already helping and bringing the Victory of the whole world closer. Poland and Italy want to restore the Donetsk region. And the Czech Republic, Sweden and Finland intend to deal with Luhansk region.

After the de-occupation, Greece will help restore Mariupol, as this city was home to a large ethnic Greek community. The United States and Turkey will take Kharkiv under their wings. The countries that will help Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, Chernihiv, and other cities have also been decided.
