Poland has shut down its largest Ukrainian refugee reception center, located in Nadarzyń (Mazovian Voivodeship), about 30 kilometers from Warsaw. This was reported by The Financial Times.

The refugees were staying on the territory of the Ptak Warsaw Expo trade and exhibition center located near the capital. It has an area of 50 hectares, and the total area of its covered premises is 150 thousand square meters.

Closing of the largest reception center for Ukrainians in Poland: what is known

According to a representative of the Mazowieckie Voivodeship press service, the center was originally created temporarily, and its closure was justified by the fact that "the number of refugees arriving in the region from Ukraine is extremely small."

According to the publication, the center housed up to 9,000 Ukrainian refugees. The last 300 people who were there were transferred to other reception centers in the country.

How many Ukrainians are in Poland?

Since the beginning of russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Poland has been one of the first countries to accept Ukrainian refugees.

Centers for Ukrainians were opened in various cities of the country, including the capital, where they were provided with temporary shelter, food and other necessities.

Some refugees stayed in these centers on a permanent basis, while others eventually moved to other European countries.

In addition to providing shelter and food, the centers also helped Ukrainian refugees obtain Polish documents that allowed them to stay in the country.

We remind you!
From now on, Ukrainians will no longer be able to obtain a Polish visa while staying in Poland. Read more about the new rules for obtaining a visa in our article.
