Ukraine provides certain social benefits for children of military personnel and combatants based on the rights of the child in terms of education, recreation and medical care. These benefits are defined by the Law of Ukraine "On Social and Legal Protection of Servicemen and Their Families," RBC-Ukraine reports.
We will tell you what assistance has been approved and what is included in the benefits.
What benefits are provided for children of military personnel in Ukraine?
According to the Law of Ukraine "On Social and Legal Protection of Servicemen and Members of Their Families," children of combatants are provided with the following benefits:
In case of capture of servicemen, internment or their release, or if they are declared missing or dead in accordance with the procedure established by law. The respective allowance is paid to adult children living with their parents or other legal representatives of servicemen. The payment is made until the day the serviceman is removed from the military unit's personnel list.
The right to sanatorium treatment and recreation in sanatoriums once a year. This right applies to wives, husbands, parents, minor children and children with disabilities since childhood, regardless of age. Servicemen and women who were killed or went missing are also entitled to this right.
In addition, children of servicemen are given preference for places in state educational institutions and children's health camps, regardless of their form of ownership, at the place of residence. This means that such children have an advantage when applying to educational institutions and participating in children's camps, which allows them to access quality education and recreation.
Adult children of servicemen living with their parents or other legal representatives are entitled to a pension in accordance with the Law of Ukraine "On Pensions for Persons Discharged from Military Service and Certain Other Persons" in the event of the death of a serviceman, person liable for military service or a reservist. This pension is intended as a compensation for the loss of the breadwinner and family support in difficult circumstances.

How to get benefits?
In order to receive assistance from the state, children of military personnel and combatants in Ukraine need to provide a number of mandatory documents confirming their right to benefits and social protection. These documents include
a combatant's certificate, a certificate of a person with a disability as a result of war (if available), and a death certificate if the combatant died.
In addition, you will need a child's birth certificate, an IDP registration certificate, and a certificate of residence registration.
We remind you! Ukraine has introduced significant changes to the personnel policy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. One of the key initiatives is to replace the traditional conscription procedure with a new recruitment system. This and other reforms are aimed at optimizing the efficiency of military recruitment, in particular through the transition to contract military service and intensive training of citizens of conscription age.
