Ukrzaliznytsia will increase the cost of tickets for international flights: when will prices rise

UZ plans to introduce an increase in the cost of tickets for international flights. The decision was made as a result of large losses incurred by Ukrzaliznytsia as a result of passenger transportation. Ukrzaliznytsia's losses from passenger transportation exceed UAH 12 billion. In this regard, the company has decided to reduce discounts and significantly increase prices for international routes.

Here is how the cost of tickets for international trains will increase and for which routes the price will rise.

UZ has announced the launch of a new train to Vienna - details here.

Ukrzaliznytsia changes tariffs for international routes

The initiative is aimed at renewing the railcar fleet and reducing overall losses associated with passenger transportation. According to the carrier's press service, the new tariffs will come into effect simultaneously with the introduction of a new train schedule.

It is reported that the cost of international tickets will increase as early as December 10

Previously, Ukrzaliznytsia used to offer significant discounts on most international passenger routes to attract passengers. However, the losses became unacceptably high, leading to a revision of this policy.

The change in international tariffs will help Ukrzaliznytsia maintain current prices on domestic routes and facilitate the modernization of rolling stock, even during a full-scale invasion.

Which trains will be affected by the price increase?

In coordination with other railways in neighboring countries, Ukrzaliznytsia has decided to raise the price of tickets for the direct Kyiv-Warsaw-Kyiv train, given the stable demand for this route. Next year, the fare on this route will increase by 72%.

However, alternative options for this route remain available.

The fare to Chełm, where you can conveniently transfer to Warsaw, will also increase, but not as much - by 4-11% for trains from Dnipro, by 17-48% from Kharkiv, and by 15-47% from Kyiv.

The cost of a nightly Intercity+ train trip from Kyiv to Przemyśl will increase by 26%.

The cost of a night train from Odesa to Przemyśl will increase by 37-49%.

Ticket prices for trains to Chisinau and Budapest will remain unchanged.
