The year 2024 will be expensive for drivers in Germany, as prices at gas stations are rising, the environmental bonus for electric vehicles ended early, and fines for violations have increased. 

According to uainfo.eu, the most common violations in Germany are: driving too fast, using a smartphone while driving, ignoring a red traffic light, parking incorrectly, stopping, overtaking, and not keeping a safe distance. We will tell you how much such violations will cost drivers in 2024 in the article below.


Amounts of fines for the most common violations in Germany


Drivers in Germany risk paying:


– €60 for no license plate and €65 for a closed license plate;

– €100 for entering an ecological zone without an ecological sticker;

– €100 for violating the requirements of the logbook;

– €20 for driving too slowly without a valid reason.


In addition, in addition to the fine, drivers in Germany can receive one point in Flensburg for the following offenses


– using a cell phone while driving (1 point + €100)

– running a red light (1 point + €90)

– exceeding the period of the main TÜV inspection by more than eight months (1 point + €60)

– violation of the requirements for winter tires (1 point + €60)

– children not wearing a seat belt (1 point + up to €70)

– simple violation of the right of way (1 point + €70)

– driving without a license and unaccompanied driving from the age of 17 (1 point + €70)

– if the cargo is not properly secured (1 point + € 60)

– causing danger to pedestrians (1 point + 60 €)

– failure to comply with the instructions of the police (1 point + €70)

Speeding in Germany: what is the fine in 2024?


The amount of fines in Germany for speeding may vary depending on the speed at which the car is moving and the area where the violation occurred. At the same time, in some cases, the driver's license may be revoked for speeding. Yes:


– If you exceed the maximum speed limit by up to 10 km/h within the city limits, you face a fine of €30, and outside the city limits you face a fine of €20.

– If you exceed the speed limit by more than 70 km/h, you will face a fine of up to €800 in urban areas and up to €700 outside of urban areas.


Why is a driver's license revoked in Germany?


– 1-month driving ban + fine + points in Flensburg: if you exceed the speed limit by 31 km/h within urban areas/if you exceed the speed limit by 41 km/h outside urban areas.

– 2-month driving ban + fine + points in Flensburg: 52 km/h in urban areas and 62 km/h outside urban areas.

– 3-months driving ban+ fine + points in Flensburg: for speeding over 61 km/h within settlements and over 70 km/h outside.


In addition, drivers of cars with foreign registration may have their vehicles seized and be deported from the country with a subsequent entry ban if they do not have a Green Card insurance policy or if the insurance has expired. In this case, the amount of the fine to be paid for this violation starts at €1,000, which is several times the cost of the Green Card for a year.
