Ukrainians in Israel will have easier residence: new opportunities for refugees
A new decision by the Tel Aviv District Court opens up additional prospects for Ukrainians in the country. Find out more about what will be a step towards greater integration of refugees into Israeli society
The District Court in Tel Aviv has decided to grant all refugees from Ukraine in Israel 2A5 visas, which guarantee a number of rights and opportunities. This is stated on the website of the Embassy of Ukraine in Israel.
We tell you what will change for Ukrainians and what rights and opportunities the document provides.
2A5 visa in Israel will be available for Ukrainians: details
Citizens of Ukraine who are in Israel and are subject to the Collective Protection Directive (people who entered the country after February 24, 2022 or stayed there legally) must be granted a 2A5 visa.
The relevant ruling was issued by the District Court in Tel Aviv on February 7, 2024, the embassy said.
It is noted that the corresponding type of visa entitles Ukrainian refugees to work, health insurance and bank accounts in the country.
Please note! To ensure a safe stay abroad, you should take care of reliable health insurance in advance, which will not only help you maintain your health, but also protect you from unforeseen expenses. You can take out an insurance policy that covers emergency medical care in case of illnesses and accidents, as well as inpatient and outpatient care around the world on the Visit Ukraine website. In addition, on our portal, you can immediately apply for car insurance - the Green Card, which is mandatory in 50 countries, including the EU.
Validity of visas and their extension
Visas should be issued no later than March 3, 2024. They will be issued with the possibility of extension until December 31, 2024 by court decision.
Ukrainians should apply to the territorial offices of the Department of Population and Immigration to obtain them.
The court's decision is a continuation of the previously adopted directives aimed at ensuring the rights of Ukrainian citizens residing in Israel and facilitating their residence in the country.
As you know, earlier the Israeli Ministry of Internal Affairs extended the period of stay for Ukrainian citizens and allowed employment for persons who were legally in Israel as of February 24, 2022, as well as those who entered the country later, until January 31, 2024.
"This means that Ukrainians did not need to apply to Israeli Ministry of Interior offices to extend their tourist visa, but Ukrainian citizens did not receive any documents. From now on, Ukrainians will have the opportunity to receive a personalized document confirming their status in the country, which will simplify their stay in Israel," the embassy said.
We remind you! The Polish government is planning to consider a number of updated rules for Ukrainian citizens who have taken refuge in the country since the beginning of the full-scale war. Read more about what may change for refugees in Poland in the near future in our previous article.
