Easter 2024: will the curfew be lifted and in which regions will there be additional restrictions?
This year, Easter in Ukraine will be celebrated from Saturday, May 4 to Sunday, May 5. Find out where there will be no curfew, in which regions there will be additional restrictions, and whether May 6 will be a day off
For the third year in a row, Ukrainians will celebrate a major church holiday in the face of a full-scale russian invasion. And because of this, not everyone will be able to follow the usual traditions: visit a church to bless Easter cake or gather the whole family at home to celebrate. Here are the restrictions on Easter in 2024 and in which regions there will be no curfew.
Curfew on Easter night 2024
According to reports from military administrations in different regions of Ukraine, there are no plans to lift the curfew on Easter night. This decision is primarily due to the security situation in the country and possible provocations by russia.
Curfews in different regions of Ukraine for Easter:
– in Kyiv, Dnipropetrovs'k, Khmelnytsky, Mykolaiv, Volyn, Rivne, Lviv, Odesa, Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr and Ivano-Frankivsk regions - restrictions are in effect from 00:00 to 05:00;
– in Chernivtsi, Poltava, Chernihiv, Cherkasy and Ternopil regions - from 00:00 to 04:00;
– in Sumy region - from 23:00 to 04:00;
– in Kirovohrad region - from 23:00 to 05:00 (but in the regional center, public transport will start running at 5 am and will operate until 22 pm);
– in Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhia regions (except for Vasyliv and Pologiv districts: restrictions from 21:00 to 05:00), the curfew will be in effect from 23:00 to 05:00;
– in Donetsk, Luhansk and Kherson regions - from 21:00 to 05:00.
At the same time, Zakarpattia region is the only region that does not have a curfew, so there will be no restrictions on being outside on Easter night.

What restrictions have the authorities imposed on citizens for Easter 2024?
There is no direct ban on visiting churches, but the authorities urge Ukrainians not to take risks: watch the church service online and not create large crowds.
In addition, security measures will be stepped up in the regions, with police crews patrolling the streets and public places.
At the same time, additional restrictions have been imposed in some regions, including:
1. In the Kherson region, the de-occupied settlements of the Novokakhovka community in Vesele village and Kozatske town will be banned from public events, including worship and cemeteries;
2. In Kharkiv, city cemeteries and memorial complexes that are subordinated to the Ritual enterprise will be closed. Visits to cemeteries №13 (108 Pushkinska St.), №15 (Volody Dubinin Lane), №17 (1 Kurochkina Hora St.) and the Polish Memorial to the Victims of Totalitarianism (Kharkivske Shosse) are also prohibited.
Will there be a day off on May 6?
Due to martial law in Ukraine, all holidays and additional days off after the holidays have been canceled. This means that May 6 will be a regular working day.
However, some employers may, at their discretion, give their employees days off. This decision depends solely on the policy of a particular company.
