Germany is introducing a simplified migration scheme to attract skilled workers from countries outside the European Union. This is reported by DW.

On June 1, Germany launched the Chancenkarte (“Opportunity Card”) scheme, which allows skilled workers from outside Europe to come to Germany in search of work.

How to participate in the program: everything you need to know

To participate in the Chancenkarte program, applicants must have at least two years of vocational training or a university degree that is recognized in the country where it was obtained. In addition, foreigners must be proficient in German or English.

Applicants will be evaluated on the basis of language skills, professional experience, age and ties to Germany. To receive a Chancenkarte, you need to score at least six points.

Holders of this card will be able to enter Germany to look for work for up to one year, having the right to work up to 20 hours per week.

The main difference is that non-EU residents wishing to work in Germany no longer need to present a contract with a German company before obtaining an entry permit.

Also, as of June 1, the rules for entering Germany for job seekers from the Western Balkans will be simplified. The quota for workers from this region is being increased from 25,000 to 50,000, and now they do not need to have proof of professional qualifications to access the German labor market. However, people from Western Balkan countries still need a contract with a German company to enter.

It is emphasized that the new visa scheme is part of a package of laws aimed at overcoming the shortage of skilled labor in Germany.
