On August 8, Ukrzaliznytsia launches ticket sales for the first children's compartment car in the company's history. This is reported on the official website of the state-owned enterprise.

The car will run as part of the train No. 15/16 Kharkiv - Yasinia and is designed for passengers aged 0 to 8 years and their parents, providing comfort, safety and interesting leisure during the trip.

Unique children's car from UZ: what you need to know

The children's car was created at the initiative of Ukrzaliznytsia in cooperation with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and with the financial support of the Government of Belgium.

Yevhen Liashchenko, Chairman of the Board of Ukrzaliznytsia, noted that the company is striving to become the most child-friendly railroad in Europe.

"This unique car was modernized in Ukraine at our Kyiv Electric Car Repair Plant. We plan to launch 7 more such cars by the end of this year," emphasized Lyashchenko.

The modernization of the car lasted about six months. The departure of the first train on August 8 is symbolic, as the Kharkiv-Yasinya route connects the east and west of Ukraine, regularly transporting groups of children from Kharkiv region to rest in the mountains.

Munir Mammadzadeh, UNICEF Representative in Ukraine, emphasized the importance of this initiative in a time when families with children are forced to travel more often due to the war. Thanks to the new car, children will be able to learn through play and receive basic psychosocial support. The car is equipped with entertaining and educational materials for the comprehensive development of children during the trip.

Chargé d'Affaires of the Belgian Embassy Frederic Develter noted that children are the country's most valuable asset, and the launch of children's cars contributes to creating a child-friendly environment.

"This investment is extremely important for the future of children and therefore for the future of the country," he added.

The car is equipped with playpens and changing tables in the restrooms for the convenience of parents with children.

Where to buy tickets?

Tickets for the children's car are available exclusively through the Ukrzaliznytsia mobile app, and their price is the same as for compartment tickets of the same class.

In the application, the carriage is labeled "Children's", which allows parents to easily choose the appropriate option for traveling with their children.

Children under 5 travel free of charge and do not need a separate ticket.

By the way, you can always buy tickets for domestic and international flights on the Visit Ukraine portal using our booking system. Tickets can be issued in two clicks in this section.
