Zakarpattia is a multicultural region bordering Poland, Hungary, Slovakia and Romania. This region is a tourist hub of Western Ukraine: everyone who travels to or from our country touches a unique multifaceted culture. Visit Ukraine experts watched the videos of You Tube bloggers Anton Ptushkin and Misha Katsurin and prepared a review of the best gastronomic tourism sites in Zakarpattia. Read more in the article.

A ‘real fairy tale’ in Podobovets - a vegetarian paradise in Zakarpattia

In Podobovets, Zakarpattia region, there is a paradise for vegetarians and fans of Vedic cuisine - the Pravychna Skazka restaurant. Unfortunately, as Anton Ptushkin and Misha Katsurin say, people don't trust vegetarian cuisine very much at the moment - and for good reason! This trend allows you to experiment and create real culinary masterpieces. For example, tokan and banosh - traditional Transcarpathian dishes - are almost no different from similar ones using meat and fish. However, they have an interesting flavour that cannot be described - you just have to taste it. The dishes here are prepared only with good intentions - Vedic cuisine as it is. By the way, Misha Katsurin says that you can feel it when you eat the dishes.

Fans of four-legged friends will be interested in the restaurant. The restaurant is home to dozens of cats - bloggers joke that the felines are here instead of hostesses. The restaurant also offers the opportunity to buy food for cats and feed them. The pleasure costs only 30 UAH.

No wonder bloggers say that the world revolves around food in Zakarpattia. You can bookan extraordinary gastronomic tour of the multicultural region of Ukraine here.

Surya tea house on the top of Mount Hymba

Anton Ptushkin and Misha Katsurin are both big tea drinkers. So they could not ignore such an institution as the Suriya tea house on the top of Mount Gimba. Gimba is a mountain of extraordinary views, so the owners of Suriya couldn't have found a better place for tea. Bloggers are offered Ivan-tea, traditional for the mountains, and there they will feel the crystal purity of nature and the scale of our world. For dessert, they serve pancakes with berries and honey.

‘Surya is a place where you can feel that guests are always welcome.

Dzhezva Kofi coffee shop - coffee in the middle of the forest

Right in the middle of the Carpathian forest is the Jezva Kofi coffee shop, where Valerchyk will brew your coffee in a jezve over a fire and add cardamom, star anise, chilli, cinnamon or nutmeg. The owner of the cafe definitely followed his heart, because the likelihood that anyone would find Jezva... in the forest is quite low (the bloggers were taken here by a guide with the telling surname Karpatych, without which it is almost impossible to navigate). So he could not expect to make much money from the business. And yet, Valerchyk realised his dream! He lives here all year round, and in winter he warms himself with a stove. Alongside the house, there is a gazebo over the river and several additional rooms for guests, a coffee shop, a barbecue and an umbrella.

Learnmore about Zakarpattia coffee in a special tour by Visit Ukraine. And it's not just about coffee.

Bloggers also ordered coffee from Valerchyk and asked him to add cardamom and chilli. The master uses 100% Arabica beans and spring water for coffee. You can't find tastier coffee in the forest! According to Anton Ptushkin and Misha Katsurin, Jezva Kofi is about enthusiasm. And its owner is very hospitable, as he treated the bloggers to a mushroom soup that tastes incomparable.

Valerchyk, like others, often joins the legendary Shipit festival, timed to coincide with Midsummer Day. People come here with their families and occupy the lawns - the First, Second, Lunar lawns... The music here is only live, played on acoustic instruments. The culmination of the festival is a huge bonfire on Midsummer Day. Once upon a time, Valerchyk from Lutsk came to the festival and stayed forever. Would you like to do the same?
