Ukraine has decided to expand the list of those who can receive a grant to start their own business under the ‘Own Business’ programme. We will tell you who can now receive funds and how to apply.

The Own Business programme has been expanded

From now on, young entrepreneurs under the age of 25 will be able to receive grants of up to UAH 150,000 with the obligation to register as a sole proprietor. At the same time, they will not be required to create jobs, according to the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine.

In three years, such entrepreneurs will be able to receive another grant from the state under the ‘Own Business’ programme on general terms and conditions in the amount of up to UAH 250,000 and an obligation to create at least 2 jobs.

In addition, spouses and husbands of fallen soldiers can now receive grants of up to UAH 500,000.

The list of grant recipients has also been expanded to include wine producers and entrepreneurs operating in the area of active hostilities.

Another innovation is that entrepreneurs have been allowed to lease water bodies and buy aquaculture for breeding them with grant funds.

How many entrepreneurs have already received grants?

Over the two years of the ‘Own Business’ programme, entrepreneurs have received 20,000 grants from the state for business development worth UAH 4.6 billion. As a result, they have created more than 38,000 new jobs.

‘Entrepreneurs from Kyiv, Lviv and Rivne regions are the most active users of the ‘Own Business’ programme.
