Next year, Ukrainian citizens will have the opportunity to apply for reparations for russia's crimes. Learn more about the categories of the Register of Damages and how to use the mechanism for future reparations
Starting in 2025, Ukrainians will have access to filing claims in all 45 categories covering compensation for damage caused by russian aggression. This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov.
This step will allow those who have been forced to leave their homes, suffered damage to life and health, lost their cars, or suffered other types of damage to apply for reparations.
Plans for 2025
During the meeting with the team of the International Register of Losses for Ukraine, we discussed the results of the work already done and plans for the next year. The agenda includes strengthening the team, resolving legal and technical issues. These steps will make it possible to ensure the availability of all categories of applications to the Register in the first half of 2025.
We are currently collecting information on destroyed housing. The first applications began to arrive in April this year. Most of the applications have been received from Donetsk, Kharkiv and Kherson regions, which have suffered the most from the hostilities.
Why is it important to apply?
This Register is a key mechanism for future reparations. The more applications are submitted, the more detailed the international community will be able to assess the extent of the damage caused to Ukraine.
The most common causes of damage for filing claims are
• hostilities in the frontline or near-frontline areas;
• artillery shelling;
• air attacks;
• occupation of settlements;
• destruction of infrastructure facilities, including the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant.

How to apply?
Ukrainians affected by russian aggression can submit an application through the Diia portal. This simplifies the procedure and allows us to record the crimes of the terrorist country as quickly as possible.
