The international company Henley&Partners has published an updated ranking of world passports in 2022. Compared to last year, the Ukrainian passport rose 4 places and took 34th place.
The annual rating includes official passports of 199 countries. They are ranked by the number of destinations that their holders can access without a prior visa. Also taken into account is the number of countries in which the passport allows you to obtain a visa on arrival, a visitor's permit, or an electronic travel authority at the border itself.
Taking the 34th place, the Ukrainian passport allows visiting 143 countries without visas and other permits. Neighboring positions in the ranking are occupied by the Dominican Republic, Grenada, Macau (33rd place), and Paraguay (35th place).
In general, the number of visa-free destinations for the Ukrainian passport increased from 64 to 136 over the past ten years. As noted by Henley&Partners experts, such dynamics became possible due to obtaining visa-free access to the countries of the Schengen zone in 2017.
The leaders of this year's rating were:
1st place Japan and Singapore – 192 visa-free countries;
2nd place Germany and South Korea – 190 visa-free countries;
3 months. Finland, Portugal, Italy, Luxembourg, Spain - 189 visa-free countries.
The last positions in the rating are occupied by passports of Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan.
