The UN Refugee Agency in Ukraine continues to provide financial assistance to the most vulnerable categories of IDPs. Data is now being collected to provide a cash payment to families who are forced to leave their homes and need help in settling in a new place - renting a house, buying food and hygiene products.

To whom is it given?

The most vulnerable categories of IDPs can receive financial support from UNHCR. As of June 6, 2022, new vulnerability criteria have been set, therefore, in order to receive assistance, a person or family must belong to all of the following categories:

1. Be an internally displaced person (IDP) after February 24, 2022.

2. Belong to one or more categories:

• A family with only one parent and two or more children under 18 years of age or an elderly person (60 years of age and older).

• A family headed by one or more single seniors or seniors with a child(ren) under 18 years of age.

• A family with one or more persons with disabilities (disabled people, people with chronic diseases).

• Foster families.

3. Did not receive financial assistance from other funds, including in the amount of 2200 hryvnia/person/month from another humanitarian organization or UN agency, because this is the same type of assistance provided through different agencies.

How to get assistance?

To receive financial assistance, the applicant must visit the data collection center, where representatives of the Right to Protection organization will interview IDPs and determine the degree of vulnerability.

The centers operate in seven regions of Ukraine: Lviv, Cherkasy, ​​Kirovohrad, Poltava, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia and Zhytomyr regions. The exact address of the center can be found on the UNHCR website.

The results of the applicant's interview will be communicated immediately. Even if the IDP does not meet the criteria for receiving financial assistance, all Ukrainians have the opportunity to receive free legal and psychological assistance in the centers.

If the family can receive financial assistance based on the results of the interview, then the next step is to provide personal information about each family member. Data collection requires the personal presence of everyone, if a person cannot come to the center due to limited opportunities, he/she will be registered remotely.

List of documents:

• TIN;

• identity document (passport);

• IDP certificate (if available);

• details of the applicant's bank account (bank card);

• birth certificate of children;

• a document certifying the legal guardianship of the child (if any);

• identity card/medical certificate for people with disabilities.

Amount and method of payment

The amount of financial assistance is 2220 hryvnia per month for each family member for a period of 3 months.

The payment is provided immediately for 3 months and will be transferred to the name of the applicant:

• to the bank account specified when applying;

• for people who do not have a bank card - through Ukrposhta.

The applicant will receive SMS notifications when funds are credited.
