This month, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, signed a law on a moratorium on raising utility tariffs for the period of martial law and for six months after its end.

How much will Ukrainians pay for heating in winter?

The relevant draft law is registered on the website of the Verkhovna Rada. The document establishes a ban on tariff increases for all Ukrainians. Prices will remain unchanged for:

• distribution of natural gas;

• heat supply (production, transportation and supply):

• hot water.

Oleksandr Chernyshov, Minister of Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine, noted that there will be no increase in tariffs for heat and hot water, as the President has signed laws that will ensure fixed prices.

It should be noted that the state has undertaken to compensate the difference between the established tariffs and the real cost of the provided services for business entities. Such guarantees are a guarantee of supporting the functioning of enterprises without loss of proper income.

Taking into account the decisions made by the authorities, Ukrainians will pay for utility bills at the level of tariffs on February 24.

Will debts for utility bills be calculated?

The Verkhovna Rada banned debt collection during martial law. This decision applies to both individuals and businesses.

Even if you have a debt, they won't be able to turn off your gas or electricity, and they won't charge you a penalty. The amount of the debt also does not matter.

At the same time, it should be remembered that after the end of martial law, it will be necessary to pay off all debts. The utility company will be able to go to court to get compensation for non-payment of debts.
