Given the risks of staying in Ukraine nowadays, foreigners need proper and reliable insurance. We'll tell you how, why, and who exactly needs an insurance policy in Ukraine, and which one to choose to be safe.
What kind of insurance should a foreigner take out to enter Ukraine?
Among the many offers on the insurance market, choosing the best option is not easy, but it is necessary. This applies to both compulsory insurance for foreigners in Ukraine and voluntary insurance with a wider list of insured events.
Among the compulsory insurance policies for foreigners in Ukraine is an insurance policy with Covid-19 coverage, as well as some other types of medical and travel insurance, which we constantly write about on our portal.
What is covered by insurance with an insured sum of 30,000 euros
Health insurance with a sum insured of EUR 30,000 is required for a foreigner to obtain a type D visa to enter Ukraine. This insurance policy, which is required for a long-term visa, also provides the following privileges for foreigners
- €30,000 protection, which is the minimum amount required by Ukrainian law;
- full compliance with the standards of the State Migration Service and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs;
- coverage of all expenses in case of COVID-19, which is now becoming relevant again.
The insurance contract covers 30,000 euros:

Emergency medical care for foreigners in Ukraine
Please note! Emergency medical care in Ukraine is of high quality and, most importantly, fast. However, without proper health insurance, it will be a paid service for foreigners and guests of Ukraine. The price of an ambulance call for a foreigner without insurance in Ukraine can vary from 500 to 5000 UAH and higher if it is an ambulance call from a private clinic.

All insurance packages also provide for emergency dental care for foreigners, which is considered to be of high quality in Ukraine.
Obstetric care
A medical insurance policy with a coverage amount of 30,000 euros allows you to safely plan your travels during pregnancy. The full insurance package of this policy provides women with a gestation period of up to 28 weeks with protection and full obstetric care.
Assistance during COVID-19
A separate factor in the health insurance contract for foreigners is once again assistance in case of COVID-19. In case of a positive test for COVID-19, this type of insurance covers the costs of comprehensive treatment of this disease.
