Ukraine is rich in nature reserves that impress with their beauty and diversity of landscapes. From the majestic Carpathians to the picturesque steppes of the Azov region, every corner of the country has unique natural attractions worth visiting. Some of them are easily accessible tourist destinations, while others hide their treasures in wild, little-explored places.

Carpathian National Nature Park
Located in the Ivano-Frankivsk region, this park covers part of the Ukrainian Carpathians. It is known for its mountainous landscapes, dense forests and numerous waterfalls. The highest point of Ukraine, Mount Hoverla (2061 m), is located here. The park can be reached from Ivano-Frankivsk to the city of Yaremche or the village of Vorokhta, where numerous hiking trails start.

Synevyr National Nature Park
Located in the Zakarpattia region, the park is known for Lake Synevyr, the largest mountain lake in Ukraine, which is called the ‘Sea Eye of the Carpathians’. The park is also home to brown bears and other rare species of animals. You can get there through the town of Mizhhiria, where buses run to the village of Synevyrska Polyana.

Podilski Tovtry National Nature Park
Located in the Khmelnytskyi region, this park is the largest in Ukraine. It is known for its unique limestone ridges, picturesque landscapes and rich flora and fauna. Points of interest include Bakotskyi Bay and Kamianets-Podilskyi Canyon. The nearest city is Kamianets-Podilskyi, which can be reached by train or bus.

Holosiivskyi National Nature Park
Located within the city of Kyiv, this park is an oasis of nature in the capital. It combines forests, lakes, and historical monuments such as the Holosiivskyi Monastery. The park is a popular place for walks, picnics and birdwatching. It is easily accessible by public transport from any part of Kyiv.

Uzhansky National Nature Park
Located in the Zakarpattia region on the border with Poland and Slovakia, the park is known for its virgin forests, which are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here you can see unique beech forests and diverse fauna. The nearest town is Velykyi Bereznyi, where you can start your journey through the park.

Pryazovia National Nature Park
Located in the Zaporizhzhia region, this park covers the coastal areas of the Azov Sea, estuaries and steppe landscapes. It is an important place for bird migration and the conservation of the steppe ecosystem. Unfortunately, since February 2022, the park has been under occupation, making it temporarily inaccessible to visitors.

Kholodnyi Yar National Nature Park
Located in the Cherkasy region, the park is known for its oak forests, historical and cultural monuments. Here you can see centuries-old oaks, picturesque ravines and feel the spirit of the Cossack era. The nearest city is Cherkasy, where you can get to the village of Melnyky, which is the gateway to the park.

Krasnokutskyi arboretum
Located in the Kharkiv region, this park is one of the oldest arboretums in Ukraine. It is known for its collection of rare plants, picturesque ponds, and historical monuments. It can be reached through the city of Krasnokutsk, which provides easy access to the village of Osnovintsy, where the park is located.

Cherkasy forest
This is a natural pine forest located on the northern outskirts of the city of Cherkasy. It is the largest natural pine forest on the southern edge of the Scots pine range.

The park also has a unique archipelago of islands in Syvash. Unfortunately, the park is currently under occupation, so it is temporarily impossible to visit. The nearest major cities are Henichesk and Melitopol.

Meotida National Nature Park
The park is located in Donetsk region and covers the coast of the Azov Sea. It is known for its sandy spits, steppe areas and a large number of waterfowl. Unfortunately, the area is under temporary occupation, making it impossible to visit. Before the war, the park could be reached via Mariupol.

Desniansko-Starohutskyi National Nature Park
Located in the Sumy region, this park is part of the Polissia forest area and has river floodplains, swamps and dense forests. It is known for its wildlife, including places where you can see bison, wolves and other rare animals. The nearest city is Sumy, from where you can get to the village of Stara Huta. It is important to note that the park is located near the border with Russia, so it is not currently safe to visit.
