Literary Odesa. Individual Tour
About this tour
There is
hardly a street or alley on the map of old Odesa that is not associated with
the name of one of the classics of world literature.
Going on a
tour of Odesa, you always find yourself near memorable places where famous
writers or their characters lived. It is not for nothing that we call our city
and such a walk through it "Literary Odesa".
During a
literary tour, you can stop on the steps of the archaeological museum (which
was once the first public library).
Mark Twain
specifically came to Odesa to see with his own eyes a great wonder - the
"Giant Stairs", now known as "Potemkin Stairs". Yes, you
will also see her during this excursion.
According
to one of the old Odesa legends, on Nadezhdynska street M.V. Gogol burned the
2nd volume of Dead Souls. Now it is Gogol Street. And Dead souls still walk the
halls of this house...
Heroes of
the oldest district of the city - Moldavanka - were immortalized in their works
by Sholom Aleichem and Isaac Babel. Later, our contemporary Mykhailo
Mykhailovych Zhvanetskyi was born there. And in the courtyard of the Literary
Museum, a monument to his briefcase is located next to the monument to
Rabinovich, the "Antelope Gnu" and the sailor Sonya.
And these
are far from all Odesa authors that you will learn about on a tour of literary
Odessa.
Do not miss the opportunity to visit this amazing excursion, which will not be ashamed to talk about later.
The tour is conducted in English and Ukrainian.
