Long-term work
Foreigners who go to work in Romania can get a job for a short period of time. Usually, short-term work lasts up to three months. For short-term work, foreigners who have the right to enter the country without a visa do not need to obtain an additional visa. Foreigners who do not have the right to enter the country without a visa must apply for a short-term visa (type C).
You can get detailed information about procedures and necessary documents on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
For legal long-term employment in Romania, a foreigner must obtain a national visa. The national visa, marked with the symbol "D", allows foreigners to enter and stay on the territory of Romania for a period not exceeding 180 days. But it allows foreigners entering the territory of Romania to apply to the Main Immigration Inspectorate of Internal Affairs for the extension of the right to temporary residence and obtaining a residence permit.
Important! Citizens of EU countries and Switzerland do not need a visa to work in Romania.
A third-country national can apply for a long-term employment visa within 180 days of receiving an employment permit from the employer.
It is necessary to extend the right of stay in Romania at least 30 days before the expiration of the long-term visa. Otherwise, the visa will not be extended.
You can get detailed information about the procedures and necessary documents on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Important! With a Romanian work visa, you can work exclusively on the territory of this country. It is not possible to work on it in the Schengen countries. Similarly, work visas to other European Union countries do not entitle the applicant to work in Romania.
