What are the ways for Ukrainians to go abroad or return back to Ukraine during the war? Or how can foreign citizens get to the territory of Ukraine if necessary? We tell you about the working checkpoints on the Ukrainian border, the mode and type of work.  


First of all, it should be noted that currently border crossing is possible only through land checkpoints on the western border of our country - with Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania and Moldova.

Checkpoints on the border with Poland


All checkpoints between Ukraine and Poland are now open. The border can be crossed by car or on foot. But, please note that at some checkpoints it is possible to cross the border on foot only to leave Ukraine and only for the purpose of evacuation, and at some checkpoints it is impossible to cross the border on foot at all. All checkpoints are open around the clock. 


The busiest are usually: Ustyluh, Shehyni, Uhryniv, Rava-Ruska, Krakivets. 


Yahodyn - pedestrians are not allowed to pass; the passage of cars is temporarily not carried out.

Ustyluh - only car checkpoint.

Uhryniv - automobile crossing point, it is also possible to cross the border on foot in one direction for the purpose of evacuation.

Rava-Ruska - automobile crossing point, it is also possible to cross the border on foot in one direction for the purpose of evacuation.

Hruszów - automobile border crossing point, it is also possible to cross the border on foot in one direction for the purpose of evacuation.

Krakivets - checkpoint for cars only.

Shehyni - car crossing point, it is also possible to cross the border on foot in both directions.

Smilnytsia - car border crossing point, it is also possible to cross the border on foot in one direction for the purpose of evacuation.


Checkpoints on the border with Slovakia


There are both automobile and pedestrian border crossing points between Slovakia and Ukraine. The busiest checkpoint is usually Uzhhorod. All checkpoints, except one, are open around the clock. 


Maly Berezny is an automobile checkpoint, it is also possible to cross the border on foot in both directions.

Uzhhorod - automobile checkpoint, it is also possible to cross the border on foot in one direction for the purpose of evacuation.

Mali Selmentsi - pedestrian crossing point, crossing in both directions is possible. Please note that the checkpoint is open from 9 to 21 hours. 


Checkpoints on the border with Hungary


The busiest checkpoint between Hungary and Ukraine is usually Tisa.


Dzvinkove is a car and pedestrian checkpoint, crossing is possible in both directions. Please note that the checkpoint is open from 9 to 19 hours. 

Kosyno - checkpoint for cars and pedestrians only, crossing is possible in both directions. Please note, the checkpoint is open from 8 to 20 hours.  

Luzhanka - car and pedestrian crossing point, crossing is possible in both directions, open around the clock. 

Vylok - vehicular and pedestrian crossing point, crossing is possible in both directions, open around the clock. 


Checkpoints on the border with Romania


The busiest checkpoint here is usually Dyakove.


Dyakove is an automobile checkpoint.

Solotvyno - car (except for large buses) and pedestrian checkpoint, crossing is possible in both directions

Krasnoholsk - car and pedestrian crossing point, crossing is possible in both directions.

Porubne - car and pedestrian crossing point, crossing is possible in both directions.


Checkpoints on the border with Moldova


There are currently four round-the-clock checkpoints between Moldova and Ukraine with the possibility to cross the border both by car and on foot in both directions - Mamalyha, Kelmentsi, Sokyriany, Rososhany. The last one is usually the busiest.

The checkpoints with Russia and Belarus are currently closed, but for Ukrainians who want to return home from Belarus, the checkpoint Mokrany-Domanovo is open in a limited mode.
