Russia's insidious war against Ukraine, unleashed on February 24, 2022, changed European history once and for all. Europe and the rest of the world have united for one purpose: to preserve Ukraine's independence and ensure the unprecedented defeat of the russian empire.

During the year of full-scale war, Ukraine received record-breaking assistance from its allies. And it was not only military support, but also humanitarian aid and assistance to refugees who had to flee from the brutality of the russians.

We will tell you what kind of assistance Ukraine received during the war and which countries became Kyiv's main allies.

Help and support for Ukraine during the full-scale invasion

Poland

After the war began, Poland became a very important partner and proved to be a true friend to Ukraine. From the first minutes of the invasion, the country was one of the first to provide military equipment and humanitarian aid.

The Poles were the first country to announce their readiness to supply Ukraine with heavy tanks for the de-occupation of all the occupied territories. As a result, Kyiv received more than 200 Soviet-style tanks and 14 Western tanks.

Warsaw also did everything possible to accommodate Ukrainian refugees on its territory. During the war, more than 1.5 million Ukrainian citizens found refuge in Poland, and the Polish government simplified a number of procedures for their comfortable stay.

Britain

The British people and government have become Ukraine's main allies in Europe in terms of military equipment. With the help of British weapons, our military has liberated and continues to liberate the occupied territories. British instructors continue to train Ukrainian soldiers and assist them in operations.

It was London that launched the process of supplying Western tanks, which Ukraine so desperately needs.

The British also opened their doors to a large number of refugees. Since the beginning of the war, 134,000 Ukrainian citizens have entered the country, and the UK has created special programs to support them.

The United States

As of the end of February 2023, the United States of America unconditionally ranks first in terms of funds allocated to support Ukraine. Since the beginning of the war, Washington has provided Kyiv with 73.1 billion euros, including 44.3 billion euros for military needs.

America is a leader in all criteria for supporting Ukraine. The US leadership has managed to unite NATO countries for long-term assistance to the Ukrainian army, which continues to fight for the freedom of its country. In particular, the Ukrainian army has received major weapons from the United States, such as HIMARS MLRS, M2 Breadly armored vehicles, Abrams tanks, and Patriot air defense systems.

In addition, the US government has repeatedly provided Ukraine with financial assistance to support the country's economy.

And this is not the whole list of assistance from American friends.

The European Union

The European Union ranks second in terms of assistance to Ukraine. In total, the countries of the union have allocated almost 55 billion euros to support Ukraine during the war. These funds were divided into military, financial and humanitarian aid to Kyiv.

There is a real rallying around our country among the EU states.

In terms of Gross domestic product, the Baltic States and Poland (members of the European Union) are the leaders in providing assistance to Ukraine. For example, Estonia spends 1.1% of its gross domestic product on military aid to Ukraine alone, Latvia - 1%, Lithuania - 0.7%, and Poland - 0.6%.

Germany and France are also actively involved in supporting Kyiv. In particular, Berlin and Paris played an important role in strengthening Ukraine's air defense. These countries have also created conditions that make it easy for people who fled the war to settle in their territories and participate in preferential programs.

After the outbreak of the war, almost all EU countries immediately began to accommodate refugees from Ukraine. According to Brussels, in the first year of the war alone, more than 13.6 million people received humanitarian aid from the European Union and other European donors.

Turkey

Despite its ambiguous policy, Turkey is Ukraine's most important partner. It is the Turkish Bayraktar drone that has become one of the most feared weapons for russians. A Turkish company that produces attack drones has repeatedly provided the Ukrainian army with drones for free.

In addition, since the beginning of the war, according to some reports, more than 220,000 Ukrainians have taken refuge in Turkey. And the Turkish government continues to make efforts to support Ukrainian citizens who have fled the war.

Other countries

The war has united almost the entire world around Ukraine. Assistance to Ukrainian citizens and the military continues to come from different parts of the world, including Australia, Japan, the UAE, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, South Korea, and other Arab, Asian, and Latin American countries.

Help comes even from the African continent. For example, Morocco was the first and so far the only African country to declare its readiness to provide tanks to Ukraine.

We have not told you about all the countries that help Ukraine. Nevertheless, the Ukrainian people are grateful to every country that helps for their kindness and support. We will never forget what you have done for us!

Let's move forward to victory!

Glory to Ukraine!
