Safety rules in Ukraine

Travelling in Ukraine during the war, you should follow two main safety rules:

  • A curfew is a time imposed to maintain law and order. Curfews usually last from 23:00 until 05:00 the next day. During this period, you cannot be in public places or move around the streets by car or on foot. You can find out the duration of the curfew in the region of your stay here
  • An air raid alert is a signal that sounds when a missile threat is announced. The authorities and the military always warn of a possible missile attack. To inform the population, they use the Air Alert signal, which can be heard on the streets of cities, and special mobile applications. In the event of a missile threat, you should go to the nearest shelter and wait for the alert to go off.

How do I get to Ukraine?

Currently, the airspace over Ukraine is closed, so it is impossible to get to Ukraine by plane. However, you can take a plane ticket to Poland or Hungary, neighbouring Ukraine, and then continue your journey by land: train or bus.

Currently, there are checkpoints on Ukraine's border with Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania and Moldova. It is currently impossible to enter through the checkpoints on the borders with Russia, Belarus and Transnistria.
