Ramstein results: what is known and why were there so few high-profile statements?
On June 15, two important meetings took place: the Ramstein Conference and the NATO-Ukraine Commission. Learn about the results of the meetings in Brussels and the important decisions that were made
According to previous statements by Ukraine's Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov, the Ramstein meeting was to discuss air defense systems, a "coalition of fighters," training for Ukrainian pilots, the direct transfer of aircraft, and Ukraine's membership in NATO.
So, let's take a look at the results of the 13th Ramstein meeting and what was discussed at the NATO-Ukraine Commission, which was held for the first time after a 7-year blockade.
New assistance to Ukraine from allies
Canada announces a new $500 million aid package, which will include:
● 288 AIM-8 missiles to protect Ukrainian skies;
● 10 thousand 105-caliber artillery shells
● training and maintenance of Ukrainian F-16 aircraft;
● assistance in the maintenance of Leopard 2 tanks in the Polish Center.
In addition, Canada announced the extension of Operation UNIFIER until 2026. This program provides training for the Ukrainian military.
According to Anita Anand, the Minister of Defense of Canada, 116 out of the 200 Senator armored infantry fighting vehicles, which were announced by the state the day before, have already been delivered to Ukraine. In addition, Ukraine will soon receive more than 6,500 assault small arms, 70,000 sniper rounds, more than 1 million rounds of 7.62 caliber ammunition, and 250,000 rounds of 5.56 mm ammunition.
Norway and Germany announced multi-year military aid packages. Denmark has announced an aid package for 2024 worth more than $2.5 billion and has supported the initiative of the United States, the United Kingdom, and the Netherlands to partner with Ukraine, which includes the transfer of hundreds of missiles. Importantly, the British government has stated that the delivery of equipment under this partnership is already underway and will be completed in the coming weeks.
Also, according to statements by partner countries and Ukraine's Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov, the allies have agreed to train Ukrainian pilots on F-16s and Swedish Gripen fighters.
Why is the 13th Ramstein different from the others?
First, on the eve of the official meeting, the partner countries had already announced their support and military assistance to Ukraine. Secondly, the 13th Ramstein was held in the format of a marathon, which involves solving urgent issues. This is because, against the backdrop of Ukraine's counteroffensive, conferences should be held more frequently and decisions should be made more quickly, based on the current needs of the state.

Why were there so few statements at Ramstein?
According to experts, the Western allies decided not to make any loud statements in order to keep important arms deliveries, as well as their volumes and timing, secret.
In addition, the issue of logistics is an urgent one, and therefore this topic has not been discussed in the public space. After all, russia will use any clues to strike at critical infrastructure facilities.
NATO-Ukraine Commission
The meeting of defense ministers within the NATO-Ukraine Commission was held for the first time in seven years. Previously, this format of conferences was blocked by Hungary, which used its veto power. There were no specific statements after the commission, but it is known that the meeting discussed Ukraine's membership in NATO, strengthening the Ukrainian army, and expectations from the Vilnius summit. Reznikov also said that he hopes that the next meeting will not be in the format of the Commission but at the highest level of cooperation, the NATO-Ukraine Council.
This is a very important step for Ukraine, as the transition from the Commission to the Council will mean that the state will receive an official status and a seat at the negotiating table among the 32 member states of the Alliance.
We remind you! According to the latest information, the White House is planning to transfer depleted uranium shells to Ukraine. In our previous article, we told you what type of shells these are and why russia is so concerned about them.
