On the morning of August 22, the General Staff and Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Malyar officially confirmed that the Ukrainian Armed Forces had entered the village of Robotyno, Zaporizhzhia region.

"The soldiers of the 47th Brigade, which entered Robotyne village with a fight, organized the evacuation of civilians on Bradley armored personnel carriers. Our soldiers are carrying out planned combat operations and destroying the enemy", said Malyar.

In addition, on the morning of August 23, General Staff spokesman Andriy Kovalev said that the armed forces had succeeded in the direction of Novoprokopivka, located south of Robotyn, and were now consolidating the achieved positions.

As a reminder, on August 16, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine announced the liberation of another important settlement, the village of Urozhayne on the border of Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia regions. Why couldn't the Ukrainian Armed Forces enter Robotyne for almost 3 months?

Throughout the summer, russia has been stubbornly bringing reserves to this small village, which is only about 3 square kilometers in size. At the same time, russian military commanders were panicked about losing control of the village.

It should be noted that this is where Ukraine's first counteroffensive operations began in the summer of 2023. However, russian troops had previously mined kilometers of territory to prevent the Ukrainian army from advancing, and so fighting on this section of the frontline had been going on since the announcement that Ukraine was beginning to de-occupy the territories. However, the Ukrainian Armed Forces managed to get through the minefields and break through the enemy's defense.

"After two months of fierce fighting, the soldiers of our brigade, with the support of other units, broke through the occupiers' multi-echelon defense line!", the 47th Brigade said in a statement.

Why is the liberation of Robotyne so important for Ukraine?

The village of Robotyne is located on the Orikhiv-Tokmak road, and it was the biggest obstacle to the Ukrainian Armed Forces' further advance. It is about 20 kilometers from Robotyne to one of russia's main logistics hubs in Tokmak, and then the road opens up to one of the main targets of Ukraine's counteroffensive, Melitopol.

"Fighting has been going on for quite some time near Robotyne, on the left flank of this village. A wedge was driven between the village of Verbove, which reached the occupiers' defense line. Then the Ukrainian Armed Forces began to advance along the right flank between Robotyn and Kopani. And the russians gradually found themselves surrounded by the Defense Forces. The liberation of Robotyn was a predictable process. The most interesting thing is how the advance of the Defense Forces will continue, because Robotyne opens the way for the Ukrainian Armed Forces to reach Tokmak. It's too early to talk about an open road, because the Ukrainian Armed Forces need to liberate three more villages - Novoprokopivka, Ilchenkove and Solodka Balka along the T-04-08 highway", explains Oleksandr Kovalenko, a military and political observer of the Information Resistance group, on the Espresso TV channel.

According to another analyst of the Information Resistance group, Kostyantyn Mashovets, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have already reached the first positions of the main line of the enemy's defense on a front width of almost 4.5 kilometers.

In addition, according to Kovalenko, the liberation of Robotyno village opens up new prospects for further advancement, as this settlement is located on the border between the first and second lines of defense of the occupation forces. This means that one of the most difficult obstacles has already been overcome, because the next lines of defense of the russian federation are much less fortified. Moreover, russia does not have enough reserves to hold back the Ukrainian army on all three offensive directions.

Evacuation of the population from the village of Robotyne

Due to the success of the Ukrainian armed forces, the village of Robotyne came under heavy artillery fire from the russian occupation forces, which put the civilians who remained in the village in mortal danger. Therefore, first of all, the soldiers of the 47th Brigade organized the evacuation of the villagers to safer regions.

"We waited for the Armed Forces for a year and a half. We grabbed our belongings and documents and ran, throwing away those packages on the way, because life is the most valuable thing. And then these guys from the 47th Brigade took us out in a tank", the evacuated villagers called the American Bradley infantry fighting vehicle, which the soldiers used to take them out of the dense shelling.

Currently, the military medics of the 47th Brigade have examined those who were taken out of the hell. They provided the necessary assistance and gave them the opportunity to contact their families.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine have once again proved that human life is the most important value for Ukraine, while russia continues to disregard all principles of common sense and humanity, continuously attacking civilians both in the frontline regions with artillery and in other cities of the country with attack drones and missiles.

However, Ukraine and Ukrainians continue to hold on, and brave Ukrainian soldiers are liberating the land from russian evil step by step.

We believe in the Victory and the Armed Forces of Ukraine!
