After more than 1.5 years of war, Ukrainian refugees who came abroad have started to return home more often. The trend of crossing the border to the territory of Ukraine is growing. We tell you what are the reasons for the return migration of Ukrainians and how, in their opinion, life in the country has changed.

In early August, the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine told about the situation at checkpoints. According to the border guards, almost 600,000 more people crossed the Ukrainian border in July than in June. At the same time, the number of returning Ukrainians exceeds the number of those leaving.

In total, in July 2023, the Border Guard Service issued passes through the border with the EU countries and Moldova more than 3.8 million people, which is almost 1 million more than in May.

Thus, it can be assumed that during the summer of 2023, more people returned to Ukraine than left.

What influences the decision of Ukrainians to return to their homeland?

According to a small survey conducted by the Visit Ukraine team on social media, the majority of citizens who return to Ukraine do so to reunite with their family.

Also, a small part of respondents said that they are tired of life in the European Union and miss their homeland.

In addition, summer is exactly the period when Ukrainians prefer to vacation abroad. Therefore, some of the returnees probably spent a long-term vacation abroad.

By the way, we always recommend choosing a convenient mode of transportation for traveling in Ukraine and abroad. In the conditions of war in Ukraine, trains are in great demand. You can buy tickets for traveling to any city of the country, as well as to some EU cities here.

How, according to the returned Ukrainians, has life in the homeland changed?

The first thing that catches the eye when entering Ukraine is, of course, the lively cities that continue to enjoy life and actively support the country's economy, despite the constant threats of rocket attacks.

However, some citizens also see negative changes in life on the territory of Ukraine. For example, some of the respondents complained about the falling standard of living in the country, while they could not or did not want to argue their opinion.

Also, several Ukrainians reported that they were upset by huge queues at the border. It is worth noting that now there is a heavy workload at border checkpoints due to the mass return of Ukrainians home.

In addition, some citizens have reported that prices in Ukraine have increased significantly, so they have a desire to return to the EU, where it is possible to re-issue temporary protection.

It is worth noting that most of the surveyed citizens on the contrary categorically do not want to return to the European Union and want to continue living in Ukraine.

However, if you do decide to travel abroad, do not forget about safety. Every tourist during the trip should be sure that he is not threatened by unforeseen expenses, which may arise, in particular, due to deterioration of health. In this you will be an assistant insurance policy, you can get it at the link.

We remind you! The dynamics of crossing the Ukrainian border by foreign citizens is constantly changing. How many foreigners and for what purpose crossed the border in both directions, as well as how the number of denials of the right to enter Ukraine has changed, we tell you here.
