According to the official announcement of the European Union, this initiative is part of the Erasmus+ program. Its goal is to promote young people's familiarity with the cultural heritage of the European Union, creating an opportunity to establish contacts with young people from different countries of the continent and study the history of Europe.

The recipients of these tickets will be able to travel for a period of one to 30 days. The travel period will be active from March 1, 2024 to May 31, 2025.

How to get tickets?

The program is open to people who meet the following criteria:

- Born between January 1, 2005 and December 31, 2005, i.e. those who are at least 18 years old.

- Provided the correct ID card, passport or resident card number in their electronic application.

- Have citizenship or permanent residence in one of the following countries: member states of the European Union and those participating in the Erasmus+ program: Liechtenstein, Iceland, Norway, North Macedonia, Serbia, and Turkey.

The application period for free tickets for young people will last until October 18. Applicants will also need to pass a short quiz test. You can apply here.

The selected participants will receive not only train tickets but also a European DiscoverEU card. This card entitles you to discounts on cultural events, lectures, sporting events, local transportation, food and accommodation.

The program has already been joined by 36 carriers, including PKP InterCity in Poland.
