A large number of Ukrainians are currently living in Norway because of the war in their homeland. Despite the fact that many refugees have continued to arrive in Norway recently, no fewer people are planning to leave the country and return to Ukraine. That is why the country is introducing a special financial assistance for those who plan to go home. Read more about the payment and how to get the money in the article below.

Payment for Ukrainians going home: details

The website of the Norwegian Directorate for Foreigners (UDI) informs that the Norwegian government is allocating an additional cash payment of EUR 1,500 for Ukrainians who are going to return home.

This assistance is designed to enable Ukrainians who have previously received collective protection in Norway to return to their homeland and settle there.

"In order for the Norwegian Directorate for Foreigners to pay financial support for returning home, you need to send documents proving that you have filed a notice of moving home (leaving Norway). You do not need to do this at the same time as applying for financial support for return, but before you leave," the UDI website says.

You must choose one of the following types of documents:

● A copy of the notice of departure from Norway with a confirmation or stamp from the National Population Register (Folkeregisteret) or the tax office;

● сonfirmation from NAV, a municipality or a government agency that the notice to leave Norway has been submitted;

● a digital receipt from the Norwegian Tax Administration (Skatteetaten) stating that a notice to leave Norway has been submitted.

It is also noted that all documents must be marked with their own DUF number.

The application and the selected type of document should be sent to the following address: Utlendingsdirektoratet, Postboks 2098 Vika, 0125 Oslo.

Please note! In order to receive the payment, all documents must be submitted 16 weeks before you leave for your home country.
