Etsy Payments is being launched in Ukraine: what opportunities does it offer?
Ukrainians will have the opportunity to scale in the international e-commerce ecosystem and gain access to more than 90 million buyers. Find out what Etsy Payments is, what opportunities this payment system opens up, and why it is important for Ukraine
According to the Minister of Digital Transformation, Mykhailo Fedorov, the Etsy Payments payment system is launching in Ukraine.
"The online platform Etsy brings together more than 90 million buyers from around the world and specializes in selling handmade goods, vintage items, and craft products. Now, Etsy's own payment interface is being launched in Ukraine," the statement said.
According to Fedorov, the company has been supporting Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, and now Ukrainian entrepreneurs will have even more opportunities to develop their business.
What are the benefits and opportunities of launching Etsy Payments in Ukraine?
Prior to the launch of the Etsy Payments payment system, foreigners buying goods from Ukrainian sellers could only pay for their purchases through the PayPal app. In addition, Ukrainians could not open new stores on Etsy before. But with the launch of Etsy Payments, this will change.
Access to the payment system will allow Ukrainian entrepreneurs to officially sell their goods to people from America, Europe, and Asia, and foreign buyers will be able to pay for Ukrainian goods with any card in the world.
In addition, sellers on the platform will have access to the Etsy Purchase Protection system, special round-the-clock support, and will be able to manage all the financial data of their store.
Why is Etsy Payments important for Ukraine?
In 2021, the Etsy marketplace made global changes in cooperation with entrepreneurs from around the world and blocked the ability to register stores for those who are not connected to the Etsy Payments financial system. So, Ukraine is also on this list.
Thus, according to Mykhailo Fedorov, the launch of Etsy Payments in Ukraine is a big step towards scaling up the participation of Ukrainians in the international e-commerce ecosystem and an important part of the systemic work of the Ministry of Digital Transformation.
