Ukraine has launched a new national language program, Future Perfect, which aims to promote English among Ukrainians to the level of an international language of communication in the country. This was announced by Vice Prime Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, who noted that the project's name is very symbolic.

"It is symbolic that Future Perfect literally translates as 'a completed action in the future'. A future where Ukrainians will speak English fluently," he wrote.

What opportunities the new national program will open up for Ukrainians and why its launch is so important for Ukraine are described in the article below.

Future Perfect program: what does it offer and how to join?

Currently, we know about the launch of two separate portals called Promova and Empower. The former is designed for all Ukrainians, the latter for teachers and students.

Mykhailo Fedorov noted that they are currently working on filling the portals with free lessons and courses, but Ukrainians can already use the resources to learn English.

The Promova platform provides a personalized approach to learning and offers Ukrainians premium access to all language courses for three years. And the University of Cambridge has joined the creation of the Empower online platform to make language learning even more effective for teachers and students.

The Vice Prime Minister also noted that the program will be open to every Ukrainian, regardless of financial status or place of residence. Thanks to the new platforms, Ukrainian citizens will have open access to educational resources and an individualized approach to language learning.

In addition, the government plans to provide eSupport for language learning. Children will learn English from kindergarten. Schools will be taught by native speakers. Teachers will have the opportunity for free training and internships to learn the language. And English will become compulsory for civil servants.

Why should learning English be enshrined in law?

According to Mykhailo Fedorov, the new national program for learning English is "an important step towards implementing the country's development doctrine, which was proclaimed by the President on Constitution Day and a bill on granting English international status."

In addition, according to Fedorov, the launch of the national program will help develop the economy, as English will help attract large international innovative companies to Ukraine. To do this, Ukrainians should start communicating with the world in one language - English.

"This is the only way we can become a country with a strong economy and an official member of the EU and NATO. It is also the only way to share innovative ideas of Ukrainians with the world," the Deputy Prime Minister said in a statement.

It is worth noting that the study of English and granting it the status of an international language in Ukraine is also demanded by Western partners, in particular, in an official letter from the United States, as well as in a classified document "Strategy for Overcoming Corruption in Ukraine" containing the conditions for further support to the country.

We remind you! On October 17, the Ukrainian parliament voted in favor of the last amendment to the law that separated Ukraine from the start of the EU accession negotiations.
