It is planned to open another checkpoint on the border between Ukraine and Hungary called Velyka Palad-Nagyhodos, and to start building a new bridge across the Tisza River.

Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó announced these initiatives during a press conference, saying that they would help optimize the work of existing checkpoints.

The possibility of building a new cargo checkpoint "Dyida-Berehdaroc" is also being considered to increase the capacity of the Ukrainian-Hungarian border.

Improving the work of checkpoints on the border with Hungary

In order to facilitate the work at the existing checkpoints, it is planned to expand the infrastructure in the Beregsurany and Záhony areas, as well as to build a new bridge across the Tisa River, which will contribute to more efficient and convenient border crossing.

Ukraine and Hungary's contractual efforts also include the expansion of road and rail crossings in the Beregsurany and Záhony regions.

Peter Szijjarto expressed gratitude to his Ukrainian colleagues for guaranteeing a reliable transit route for crude oil. He also called for favorable conditions for Hungarian companies to operate in the Ukrainian market. This was seen as an important step in supporting economic cooperation between the two countries.

As you know, the recent visit of Szijjártó to Uzhhorod was aimed at restoring trust and strengthening bilateral relations between Ukraine and Hungary. The Minister noted that steps have already been taken to improve mutual understanding and cooperation.

Current situation at the border with Hungary

Currently, there are eight checkpoints on the Ukrainian-Hungarian border, five of which are for cars and buses, and three for rail transport.

The planning of new checkpoints and infrastructure expansions reflects a strategic approach to further developing the checkpoints and attracting new opportunities for cooperation between Ukraine and Hungary.
