On March 12 and 13, Lufthansa employees in Frankfurt and Munich will strike again: details
Flight attendants of the largest German airline have planned a new two-day strike. It is noted that the protest will affect about 100 thousand passengers. Find out which flights will be canceled and when the airline will resume flights
Strikes by transportation companies in Germany continue. Last week, Deutsche Bahn drivers went on strike for 35 hours, and airport security personnel caused the cancellation of all flights from Germany's largest airport. In addition, more than 900 Lufthansa flights were canceled last week alone.
Meanwhile, according to Reuters, the flight attendants' union (UFO) of Germany's largest air carrier has called on its employees to go on strike again.
Strikes at German airports this week
According to the UFO, the strike will affect Lufthansa and short-haul carrier CityLine. After a vote of the union members, it became known that the cancelations will cover two German cities:
– on Tuesday (March 12), flights from Frankfurt will be canceled
– on Wednesday (March 13), flights from Munich will be canceled.
According to Lufthansa, the two-day strike is likely to affect about 100,000 passengers.
Why are Lufthansa employees on strike?
According to Reuters, the strikes are aimed at raising wages. Thus, according to preliminary reports of the airline group, the forecast for 2024 is extremely restrained, as operating losses are growing, and the fight against expensive labor disputes offsets the tourism boom.
At the same time, journalists note that European airlines have benefited from unprecedented demand after the pandemic, allowing them to raise prices, but rising labor and maintenance costs have limited profit growth.
According to analysts and investors, employee strikes threaten Lufthansa's 2024 operating margin target, and it is noted that the airline has agreed to new agreements with higher wages to stop the protests.

The simultaneous stay of visitors in the hotel lobby not more than one person per 10 square meters of serviceable area is allowed.
Persons can visit hotels and stay there (outside hotel room) only if they wear respirator or face mask (including homemade mask), so that the nose and mouth are covered.
