Do I need a military ID card to get a driver's license: explanation from the Ministry of Internal Affairs
Service centers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs provide services as usual. Find out more about the required package of documents after the law on mobilization comes into force and whether a military ID card is required to obtain a driver's license
Due to the new law on mobilization, which came into force on May 18, 2024, the Main Service Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that it continues to provide services as usual. Thus, the package of documents for obtaining a driver's license has not changed.
"When applying to the service centers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, men of military age will receive services without presenting a military registration document," the Ministry emphasized.
What documents are required to exchange a driver's license:
- A passport with a stamp of registration or an ID card;
- Taxpayer registration number (TIN);
- Existing driver's license.

What documents are required to re-register a car for individuals:
- A passport with a stamp of the place of registration or an ID card;
- Registration number of the taxpayer's account card (TIN);
- Vehicle registration certificate;
- Power of attorney for another person (if necessary).
Please note! To receive services, you must make an appointment in advance. You can do this online or through the terminal located in the premises of the MIA service center.
Remember that to use a car with Ukrainian registration abroad, drivers must have an insurance policy. The most reliable way is to obtain a Green Card.
