The Ukrainian armed forces have withdrawn from the village of Krynki, which is located on the left bank of the Dnieper. Journalists and analysts say that this operation could have claimed many lives among Ukrainian soldiers.

As is known, the operation in Krynki started in October last year. It was planned to hold a bridgehead on the left bank of the Kherson region, which has been controlled by the occupation forces since the beginning of the full-scale war. It is probably one of the most difficult operations since the beginning of russian aggression.

According to the military, although the AFU has withdrawn from Krynki, the operation is now continuing on the islands near the settlement.

Why did the AFU leave Krynki?

According to the monitoring project DeepState, "Fighting for the islands is a new problem, as the concentration of enemy manpower on the left bank is very high. In time, they will occupy most of the islands, or the part that is less exposed to fire," the project analysts predicted and added that these battles are not much easier from the point of view of an ordinary fighter than the ones in Krynki.

The project also drew attention to the losses in Krynki. Analysts noted that evacuation in that area was "extremely lucky, so most of the losses are dead." However, there were cases when the military were found in captivity.

It is worth noting that the other day the publication "Slidstvo.Info" reported that 788 Ukrainian military missing during the defensive operation in the village of Krynki from October 2023 to June 2024.

The publication spoke to a dozen sailors, boatmen and medics from different Marine brigades who were either in Krynki or transported there.

Most of them say the defence of Krynki was a top-heavy task from the start with limited resources.

"It was especially difficult to go in there in October for the winter," noted one officer involved in the operation.

Some of the military who took part in the operation believe that at first it was possible to defend the village and try to expand the bridgehead, but when the village was wiped out to the ground and not even ruins were left, then sometime in late winter the task of maintaining these positions became for many a "one-way road".

Krynki is an ultra-complicated operation

The operation in Krynki in the Kherson region is one of the most difficult for the AFU during the war. According to the testimonies of the military, evacuation of the wounded from there could take weeks - during the operation the enemy has studied and shot all the ways on which the marines are rafted.

It is worth noting that Krynki is on the opposite bank from the city of Kherson, which the Ukrainian military managed to liberate in 2022. Kherson region is divided into banks by the Dnieper River and its forcing is a very difficult task for any army. However, the Ukrainian fighters were able to land in Krynki and hold the small settlement for about 9 months.

We remind you! After years of war, the russian army may face a real disaster in providing its military with armoured vehicles. What it is connected with and what it can lead to, read in the material at the link.
