When buying any car, remember that you are obliged to take out insurance. This applies to both new cars bought abroad and used cars imported from other countries. In order to bring a car to Ukraine, you need to obtain a Green Card, as it is prohibited to drive on the roads of the EU countries without it. On the Visit Ukraine portal, you can take out a Green Card policy from a licensed insurer. Packages are available for different periods from 15 days to 1 year for cars and trucks, trailers and semi-trailers for trucks, as well as motorcycles and scooters.

Car insurance is also compulsory in Ukraine. Motor third party liability insurance (MTPL) is a Ukrainian insurance policy that compensates victims of road accidents. Therefore, when importing a car from Europe, you need to take this point into account and immediately take out a Ukrainian car insurance policy. On the Visit Ukraine portal, you can buy a CTP policy from a licensed insurer. Packages with a deductible of UAH 3200, UAH 1600 and UAH 0 are available.

Just a reminder. Importing foreign cars from abroad is quite popular among Ukrainians. What documents are required to register a foreign car in Ukraine, how much it costs and where to go - read here.
