Hiking routes to the mountains, forests, or meadows are gaining popularity. However, today we want to tell you about the lakes that Ukrainians can visit if they want to admire the combination of wildlife and the quiet calm of the water surface.
Synevyr
It is located in the Transcarpathian region: the village of Synevyrska Polyana in Mizhhirya district.
No wonder Synevyr is called the most beautiful lake in Ukraine and the "sea eye of the Carpathians". Looking like a magical mountain mirror framed by the Carpathian forests, it strikes the visitor at first sight. And mysterious and sometimes even frightening legends attract the attention of not only beauty lovers, but also fans of the mystical and extraordinary. By the way, one of these legends formed the basis of the first Ukrainian horror movie "Synevyr". The lake is quite deep - 22 meters - so be careful and cautious.
Currently, tourists in Ukraine are interested not only in natural attractions, but also in culture and history - they visit the centers of different regions. Prices for summer vacations in Ukraine may depend on the city you are going to. Youcan find out more about the cost of a vacation in Kyiv, Lviv, Odesa, and the Carpathians here.
Nesamovite
Located in the Rakhiv district of the Zakarpattia region
The lake, located in the Chornohora mountain range, is also associated with a huge number of Carpathian legends. It belongs to the list of lakes that have perpetually cold water and do not forgive impolite attitude - according to legend, it is strictly forbidden to throw stones into the lake. Nesamovyte - a rather shallow lake (1.5 meters) never actually heats up, but this is due to its geography and origin. It stretches 88 meters in length. The experience of visiting it will be truly extraordinary!
Earlier we talked about a tour that includes a hike to Lake Nesamovyte, details can be found here.

Svityaz mountain
Located in the Shatsk district of the Volyn region
At one time, Svityaz was called one of the Seven Wonders of Ukraine. The Shatsk Lakes are a group of 30 lakes located between the Pripyat and the Southern Bug rivers. Svityaz is one of the most famous among them, in particular because it is the deepest lake in Ukraine (58.4 meters). Healing mud, clear water, sandy shores - the lake has been attracting tourists not only from Ukraine but also from all over the world for decades. By the way, the air around is filled with oxygen and is beneficial for the respiratory system - the reason for this is the huge coniferous forests. So you can not only improve your health on Svityaz while walking!
Please note: This summer, tourists and locals will have to obtain special passes to visit some areas of the Shatsk Lakes in the Volyn region. Details are available here.
Brebeneskul
Located in Rakhiv district of Zakarpattia region.
The lake is located on the slope of Mount Hutyn-Tomnatyk and is the highest mountain in Ukraine. The water in the lake is slightly mineralized, it remains transparent and slightly cool throughout the year - this is due to the sources of water supply: a mountain spring, rains and melted snow. By the way, this is perhaps the warmest lake of all those on the Montenegrin ridge. Its name comes from Romanian and means "periwinkle". However, some locals disagree with this - they say that the name comes from a rare musical instrument called the berbenitsa.
Yalpug
Located in Bolhrad and Izmail districts of Odesa region
Yalpug is the largest lake in Ukraine that is of natural origin. The lake is about 39 kilometers long and relatively shallow - only 5.5 meters deep. Historians claim that the settlements on the shores of the lake are very old - even the remains of Trypillian culture and jewelry from ancient Greece and Rome have been found. So visitors can not only admire the beauty of the lake, but also touch the historical heritage.
