Travelling from Kyiv to Odesa is not just about moving from one city to another, but also an opportunity to explore amazing places that many people do not even know exist. This 480-kilometre route will take you along the E-95 highway through historic cities, picturesque natural areas and unique attractions that will be great stops along the way.

We'll tell you where to visit when travelling between these cities in the selection below.

Bila Tserkva: Alexandria Arboretum

The first point on the way is the city of Bila Tserkva, located 80 km from Kyiv. It is home to one of the oldest and largest arboretums in Ukraine, Alexandria. Founded in 1793, the park covers an area of over 200 hectares and has more than 2,500 species of trees and shrubs. It is a great place for walks, picnics and admiring the scenery.

The picturesque ponds, old bridges and romantic pavilions deserve special attention.

Zhashkiv: Parade Allure Equestrian Club

The next stop is the city of Zhashkiv, known for its Parade Allure Equestrian Club. This club has gained real popularity among Ukrainians. It gives you the opportunity not only to admire horses of rare breeds, but also to try your hand at riding.

Equestrian competitions are regularly held here, and visitors are offered tours of the stables and lessons for beginners. Even if you have never been in the saddle, this place can give you unforgettable emotions.

Butsky Canyon: Granite cliffs and waterfalls

After a few tens of kilometres off the route, you will come to the Butsky Canyon, located on the Gorny Tikich River. This nature reserve is often called the ‘Ukrainian Switzerland’ for its stunning views and rugged granite cliffs up to 30 metres high.

The Vyr Waterfall, one of the main elements of the canyon, is especially beautiful in spring and autumn, when the water level is at its highest. This place is popular among tourists, climbers and kayaking enthusiasts.

Uman: Sofiyivka National Arboretum

One of the most famous stops on the road from Kyiv to Odesa is Uman, where the famous Sofiyivka Arboretum is located. This park, like Alexandria, was inspired by ancient Greek mythology, and its landscape compositions reflect scenes from the Iliad and Odyssey. Visitors can stroll along the alleys, admire the waterfalls, grottoes and even take a boat ride on the underground river Acheron. ‘Sofiyivka is a real monument of landscape art that attracts tourists from all over the world.

Shabo: A winery and wine museum

Not far from Odesa, in the small village of Shabo, there is one of the most famous wineries in Ukraine. Here you can visit wine cellars, taste local wines and even visit a unique wine museum that tells the story of the region's winemaking. This is a great stop for foodies and those who appreciate quality wines.

Vylkove: The Venice of Ukraine

About 70 kilometres from Odesa, on the border with Romania (it's worth travelling a little further from Odesa for this location), is Vilkovo, a unique town often called the ‘Ukrainian Venice’. This place is famous for its canals, which are used by locals to travel by boat. The city is located in the Danube Delta, and here you can go on an excursion to the Danube Plains National Park, which is home to many rare species of birds and animals. Vylkove is not only a natural gem, but also a cultural phenomenon associated with the history of the Old Believers who settled here several centuries ago.
