October 2024 will bring many interesting cultural events for art lovers and exhibition enthusiasts. Exhibitions are planned in major cities of Ukraine that will allow you to immerse yourself in the world of contemporary and classical art. We have compiled a list of the most interesting exhibitions worth visiting this month.


KYIV


Ukrainian theatre costume of the XX-XXI centuries: Identity, context, landscape


Where: I.P. Kavaleridze Museum and Workshop, 21 Andriyivskyi Descent

When: 3-14 October, 9:00-18:00


This exhibition will showcase the works of Ukrainian artists who have worked on the creation of theatre costumes at different times.


The event will be a great opportunity to get acquainted with the works of famous 20th century artists Vadym Meller and Anatoliy Petrytskyi, who were among the brightest Ukrainian avant-garde artists in the early twentieth century and made a great contribution to the development of Ukrainian art. The exhibition includes a selection of rare photographs of their costumes.

Where: Peremoga business space, 15 Yaroslaviv Val Street

When: 3 October - 9 November, 8:00-21:00


Sculptor Vitaliy Kokhan has prepared a personal collection of sculptures, which the author himself calls ‘objects’. The exhibition will feature works made of stone, marble, wood and metal.


Future Generation Art Prize


Where: PinchukArtCentre, 1/3-2 Velyka Vasylkivska/Baseina str.

When: 4 October - 19 January 2025, Wed-Sun, 12:00-20:00


The international Future Generation Art Prize, which is looking for new discoveries in the art world, is ready to present its nominees. 


At the event, guests will be able to see 21 works by artists from around the world. The paintings and works reveal contemporary global and local themes, including social, political and environmental issues.

Sculpture Week. A trace of memory


When: 4-31 October


A traditional Lviv event held for the third time. Lviv Sculpture Week 2024 aims to come up with new creative proposals that can influence the art of memory in public space, public dialogue and education.


The exhibition projects will be located in different places:

- National Drama Theatre named after Maria Zankovetska / 1 Lesi Ukrainky Street;

Dance in the war zone


Where: Hnat Khotkevych Palace of Culture (1 Kushevycha St.)

When: 8 September - 12 October


To see contemporary dance as a powerful artistic medium operating in Ukraine during the war in the most unusual and unexpected way - this is what the multimedia exhibition Dance in the War Zone offers.


The audio recording features real sounds from the trenches, shooting, drones, rockets, sirens and tanks.

Mariupol: 86 days of defence


Where: Shevchenko Park

When: 1-7 October


The exhibition ‘Mariupol: 86 Days of Defence’. It tells about the heroic defence of the city. The exhibition highlights the main events of the city's defence, the details and chronology of which were collected as part of the project ‘Chronicle of Mariupol Defence’.
