The Ukrainian Legion initiative, which aims to attract Ukrainians abroad to join the Ukrainian Defense Forces, has officially announced the start of recruitment. According to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the first recruiting center was opened in Lublin, Poland, on the basis of the Ukrainian consulate. The center not only attracts volunteers, but also provides comprehensive training, training in accordance with NATO standards and provides all conditions for professional growth in the army.

How does the recruitment center in Lublin work?


The Ukrainian Legion Recruitment Center is located in Poland, at 2 Spokojna Street, Lublin, 20-074 Lublin, Poland. Opening hours are from 9:00 to 17:00 (without lunch breaks and weekends).

The center is staffed by Armed Forces officers, a military medical commission and medical personnel who conduct examinations and issue conclusions on fitness for service. After passing the medical board, volunteers can sign a contract and go to the training ground for 35 days of training.

Conditions for joining the Ukrainian Legion and how to apply


The recruitment process is carried out through submitting applications on the Ukrainian Legion website or through consulates and embassies. It is noted that more than 190 applications were received in the first days of the center's operation. Joining the Ukrainian Legion is exclusively on a voluntary basis with the signing of a contract.

After submitting an application, the candidate undergoes a preliminary interview, during which details are clarified and the position is determined. Then a medical examination is conducted with the participation of a military medical commission. In case of successful completion of the medical examination, the date of signing the contract is determined. After all the formalities are completed, the volunteers begin training at a training ground in Poland. The training will last for 35 days, and after that, the soldiers can undergo advanced training at NATO bases in other countries.

To apply, you need to prepare a package of documents:

– Passport (ID card) of a citizen of Ukraine;
–  Taxpayer's card (certificate of identification number assignment)
– Military registration document (military ID card, military ID card of a reserve officer, temporary certificate of a person liable for military service, military registration document for conscripts, persons liable for military service and reservists, conscript certificate (certificate of registration with a military registration office).

If a military registration document is not available, candidates are asked to leave an application on the website to contact a recruiter who will advise on further steps.

Important! Only citizens of Ukraine can join the Ukrainian Legion. The circumstances of leaving Ukraine do not matter.

Benefits of serving in the Ukrainian Legion


First and foremost, the peculiarity of service in the Ukrainian Legion is the opportunity to receive military training in NATO countries. The training includes basic military education and specialized training. In addition, Polish partners provide weapons and equipment for volunteer training.

Service in the Ukrainian Legion, in addition to basic salaries, provides for the right to additional payments (upon signing the first contract) provided for by Ukrainian law, as well as social guarantees, including medical care. It is noted that while performing tasks in Ukraine, privates can receive up to UAH 190,000 per month.

At the same time, a member of the Ukrainian Legion cannot be transferred to another unit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine without their consent.
