Home insurance against drones and missiles – how to insure an apartment or house against damage and what is the price?
The current reality of Ukraine has forced Ukrainians to look for new ways to protect their property. After all, missile attacks and UAV attacks have become a serious threat to civilian infrastructure in many regions of the country. Find out how to insure your property against damage caused by explosions and falling rockets and shaheds
The aggression of russia and the invasion of Ukraine have forced insurance companies to adapt to modern realities. And while war remains an exception in insurance contracts around the world, Ukrainians can protect their health, real estate and cars from war risks. We told you how to insure yourself and your car against war earlier, and today we will look at how to protect real estate and property in it.
How to insure an apartment or house against damage from missiles and drones?
Unfortunately, Ukraine is currently facing unprecedented challenges. That's why real estate insurance with military coverage is no longer a luxury, but a necessity. On the Visit Ukraine portal, you can take out apartment and house insurance that will guarantee reimbursement in case of damage to your property as a result of missiles, UAVs and drones falling, as well as ammunition and mine explosions or other consequences of war (except for damage caused by nuclear, biological and chemical weapons). This policy allows you to:
● Receive compensation for damaged, destroyed or destroyed housing and property;
● Minimize financial losses in the event of unforeseen events;
● Ensure psychological stability and confidence in the future.
What kind of housing can be insured?
You can insure any dwelling you live in (your own or rented). To take out insurance, you only need a passport and an identification code (TIN). The insurance process takes place online - you do not need to meet with representatives of the insurance company to inspect and evaluate the property.
Important restrictions that you should know about:
1. Only fully completed and commissioned real estate is accepted for insurance. To insure an apartment or house, all repair and restoration work must be completed.
2. You cannot take out insurance if the building is in a state of disrepair.
3. You cannot insure real estate if it is pledged to a bank or any other financial institution.
Territorial restrictions
You can take out insurance for real estate located in any region of Ukraine, except for the frontline and frontline territories (high-risk zone) and temporarily occupied territories, namely: Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, Mykolaiv, Dnipro, Kharkiv, Sumy, Chernihiv regions (except for Chernihiv city, Nizhyn and Pryluky districts) and the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
What does apartment and house insurance against war risks cover?
Home insurance with war risks coverage, in addition to damage caused by military operations, provides financial protection in the event of:
● Natural disasters (lightning strike, hurricane, storm, etc.);
● Domestic incidents (fire, smoke, flooding, explosion of household gas);
● Unlawful acts of third parties (property damage, burglary, robbery, etc.).
In addition, the insurance provides for indemnification of losses to neighbors (civil liability) if a fire, household gas explosion or flooding occurs through the fault of the user or owner of the insured dwelling and causes damage to the life, health or property of neighbors (provided that it happened unintentionally).
What property is covered by home insurance?
When you take out home insurance, you get a guarantee of compensation for losses if you suffer as a result of an insured event:
1. Structures of the house or apartment (walls, roof, floor and ceiling, etc., as well as windows, loggias and balconies).
2. Communications (water supply, heating systems, etc.)
3. Interior decoration (interior items, repairs, etc.)
4. Internal equipment (furniture, household and computer equipment, etc.)
Please note! Private house insurance provides coverage of the adjoining territory (terraces, outbuildings, garages, gates and fences, etc.). Along with the house, all outbuildings located within your household are automatically insured.
At the same time, the insurance does not cover some property that may be located in the house or apartment. The insurance does not cover: cash, jewelry, documents, books, toys, paintings and other works of art.

The cost of home insurance does not depend on the region where the property is located, its area or number of rooms, the floor of the house, or other factors. And this amount is chosen by the client independently, based on their own objective assessment of the value of the property and property.

How to get compensation in case of an insured event?
The process of receiving compensation in the event of an insured event is completely transparent. To receive compensation for losses, you need to:
1. Notify the insurance company of the insured event within 2 days.
2. It is advisable to record everything on a photo/video and keep the damaged property in the same condition until the arrival of a representative from the insurance company
3. Set the time of inspection of the damaged property with a specialist and upon arrival, jointly draw up an inspection report of the damaged property.
4. Submit to the insurance company a statement of the insured event with the original signature, as well as documents confirming the fact of its occurrence from the relevant authorities or institutions (police, SES, etc.).
5. Receive insurance indemnity.
