Visa on arrival to Bali (Visa on Arrival, VoA)
Another option is to apply for a visa upon arrival at the airport in Bali. The visa allows you to stay in Indonesia for up to 30 days, with the possibility of extension for another 30 days. This is the easiest and most popular way for tourists to obtain a visa. The cost of the visa is 500,000 IDR (approximately 30 USD).
To extend the period of stay, Ukrainians must visit the migration office in Bali, where an extension for another 30 days is possible.
Requirements for visa extension upon arrival:
- 2 completed extension forms (Formulir untuk perpanjangan pertama visa kunjungan and Formulir perubahan data orang asing form)
- A valid passport valid for at least 6 months
- A copy of the sponsor's ID (agencies can act as a sponsor for a fee)
- Payment of the extension fee
It is recommended to apply at least 10 days before the expiration of their visa. Exceeding the period of stay at the Indonesian VOA will result in a fee (300,000 IDR per day) and may affect future visa applications.
Multiple entry visa (D1, D2)
The Indonesian government has also introduced 5-year multi-entry visas for tourist and business travel. The visa allows you to stay in Indonesia for up to 60 days at a time and can be used multiple times within 5 years.
Documents for obtaining a multivisa:
- Passport with a validity period of at least 6 months.
- Confirmation of funds in the account (minimum $2000).
- 1 color photo.
- An invitation letter or documents confirming the purpose of the trip.
For a trip to Bali prepare the following documents:
- Passport: at least 6 months valid from the date of entry.
- Electronic visa or visa on arrival (if you applied online or plan to apply for a visa at the airport).
- Travel insurance policy: you will not be able to enter Indonesia without this document.
- Flight itinerary and hotel reservation confirmation.
- Proof of sufficient funds for your stay (usually at least $100 per day of stay).
- 35 USD (if you choose a visa upon arrival).
- All Indonesia digital arrival card.
On September 1, 2025, Indonesia introduced a mandatory All Indonesia digital arrival card for all foreign tourists. Initially, it will be valid at the three largest airports: Bali (Denpasar), Jakarta, and Surabaya. And from October 1, the requirement will extend to all international airports in the country, including Sumatra, Komodo, Makassar, and Manado.
The All Indonesia card combines several documents that previously had to be filled out separately: customs declaration (e-CD), SATUSEHAT medical form, as well as immigration and quarantine data. Now Ukrainian tourists will be able to complete everything online before their trip, which will speed up the control process.
The form must be completed on the website no earlier than 3 days before the date of entry. The declaration must include personal and contact details, flight number, and hotel name.
In addition, from October 1, 2025, a tourist tax of 150,000 Indonesian rupiah (approximately USD 14) will be introduced. It can be paid either online or upon arrival.
Important steps for smooth customs clearance:
1. Registration for auto-gates
To speed up customs clearance, Ukrainians should pre-register their passports for passing through the Bali autogates. This can be done online before arrival. This will allow you to pass through customs faster, reducing the time spent waiting in lines.
2. SATUSEHAT Health Pass (SSHP)
All international travelers must fill out the SATUSEHAT Health Pass (SSHP) medical form through the official website, which allows you to confirm the absence of diseases or symptoms that may be threatening to your health. Fill out the form before you board the flight.
3. Customs declaration
Before arriving in Bali, you need to fill out an electronic customs declaration up to 3 days before arrival. After filling out the declaration, you will receive a QR code that you need to save to go through customs. This will allow you to go through airport security faster.
4. Tourist tax
Starting in 2024, all international tourists coming to Bali must pay a tourist tax of 150,000 IDR (approximately 9 USD). This fee is aimed at supporting environmental and cultural initiatives on the island. Payment is made through the official platform before arrival or directly on the spot.

How much money do you need to cross the border?
Indonesia does not set an official minimum amount of funds for entry. If necessary, border services may selectively ask you to confirm your financial security for the duration of your stay, so tourists are advised to have approximately 100 USD per day. Cash or payment instruments worth more than IDR 100,000,000 (approximately ~USD 6,000–6,500) must be declared when crossing the border.
⚠️ Important!
When entering Bali, border guards may check the information in your visa, digital arrival card, and accommodation reservation. Sometimes they additionally clarify the travel itinerary and length of stay, especially if the information in the documents differs or the trip is planned for a long period.
👉 If you have any doubts about the correctness of filling out the questionnaire or preparing documents, it is worth consulting with a migration lawyer at Visit Ukraine in advance.
What to do if your foreign passport is about to expire
As of October 29, 2025, Ukraine has abolished the military rule that allowed foreign passports to be extended and information about children to be added to them.
Now, a valid biometric passport is required to travel abroad.
If your document has been extended or information about children has been added to it, you must apply for a new foreign passport.
Where to obtain a new passport
- In Ukraine: at DMS, CNAA offices, or at branches of DP “Document”.
- Abroad: at embassies or consulates of Ukraine, as well as at branches of DP ‘Document’, if they operate in your country.
If you are abroad and have an “extended” passport
If border guards do not let you leave or enter the country with an “extended” document, contact the nearest Ukrainian embassy or consulate.
There you can apply for an identity card for return to Ukraine (“white passport”). It is issued on the day of application — free of charge for children under 16 and for a consular fee for adults.

How to travel abroad with a child in 2026?
During martial law, Ukraine has simplified rules for children traveling abroad:
1. Children under the age of 16 can travel with one parent without the notarized consent of the other.
2. Children over 16 years of age can cross the border on their own if they have a valid passport.
3. If the child is traveling with relatives or a trusted person, a birth certificate and a statement from one of the parents, certified by the guardianship authority, are required.
Important: To enter Indonesia with one parent, the consulate may require a notarized permission from the other parent. This is required specifically for obtaining a visa and at passport control in Indonesia.

Practical tips for traveling with a child to Indonesia
1. Climate adaptation: how to avoid acclimatization?
- Indonesia has a very humid climate, with temperatures of +30-35°C throughout the year. Children often have a hard time with this heat.
- Prepare your body for climate change - in the first days, try to minimize physical activity and avoid sun exposure during lunchtime.
- Use electrolytes to help prevent dehydration.
2. Insects, dangerous diseases and repellents
- In Indonesia, there is a risk of contracting dengue fever, which is transmitted by mosquitoes.
- Use repellents with DEET or natural remedies (citronella oil, lavender).
- It is recommended to use mosquito nets or fumigators at night.
3. Car seats and transportation
- In Indonesia, it is not mandatory to use a car seat, but for safety reasons it is worth taking it with you or renting it.
- Traffic on the roads is chaotic, so it is not recommended to rent scooters if you are with a child.
4. Hospitals and insurance - what to do in case of illness?
In case of illness, you should go to private international clinics - public hospitals often have a low level of service.
The best clinics in Bali:
- BIMC Hospital Nusa Dua
- Siloam Hospitals
- Kasih Ibu Hospital
Be sure to have insurance, as even a doctor's consultation can cost from $50, and hospitalization - from $1000.
