Rules for entry into Cyprus for Ukrainians
What documents are needed to travel to Cyprus from Ukraine?
You will need:
- Biometric passport (valid for at least 3 months)
- Medical insurance with coverage of at least 30,000 euros and valid for the entire period of your stay in Cyprus
⚠️ Recently, Cypriot border guards have been asking more frequently about the purpose of travel and may request documentary evidence, especially from tourists traveling independently.
During the check, you may be asked to provide your accommodation reservation, return ticket, proof of financial means, and other documents confirming the tourist nature of your trip.
To minimize the risk of being denied entry, it is recommended that you consult with a lawyer in advance regarding the rules for staying in Cyprus and the list of documents that you should have with you.

How much money do you need to enter Cyprus in 2026?
There is no specific fixed amount for entering Cyprus in 2026, but border guards may check that you have sufficient funds to stay in the country and return home. It is recommended to have approximately €50-70 per day per person in cash or on a bank card, but this amount is not an entry fee, only a guideline for the funds that may be checked at the border.
What to do if your foreign passport is about to expire?
As of October 29, 2025, Ukraine has abolished the military rule of extending the validity of foreign passports and adding information about children to them. Now, traveling abroad is only possible with a valid biometric passport.
This means that if your passport has been “extended” or information about children has been added to it, you need to apply for a new biometric foreign passport.
Where to apply for a new passport
- In Ukraine: at the State Migration Service, Administrative Service Centers, or branches of the State Enterprise “Document.”
- Abroad: at Ukrainian embassies or consulates, or at branches of the State Enterprise ‘Document’ if they operate in your country.
If you are abroad and have an “extended” passport
If you are not allowed to leave the country or enter Ukraine because of your “extended” passport, contact the nearest Ukrainian embassy or consulate.
There you can obtain an identity card for returning to Ukraine (a so-called “white passport”). It is issued on the day of application — free of charge for children under 16 and for a consular fee for adults.
