How much money do you need to cross the border?
When planning a trip to Saudi Arabia, tourists are usually advised to have about 100 USD per day of their stay. There is no fixed minimum amount, but your financial solvency may be checked at the border. Currency amounts exceeding 60,000 SAR (about 16,000 USD) must be declared upon entry.
If your foreign passport is about to expire
Starting October 29, 2025, Ukraine will no longer have a rule that allowed people to extend the validity of their foreign passports or add their children to them.
Now, you can only travel abroad with a valid biometric passport.
This means that if your passport has been extended or information about your children has been added to it, you will need to obtain a new document.
Where to apply for a new passport
- In Ukraine — at any branch of the State Migration Service, at the Administrative Services Center, or at a branch of the State Enterprise “Document.”
- Abroad — at the embassy or consulate of Ukraine, as well as at branches of the State Enterprise “Document” if they operate in your country.
If you are abroad with an “extended” passport
If you are not allowed to leave the country or are not accepted upon entry into Ukraine because of an “extended” document, contact the nearest Ukrainian embassy or consulate.
There you can obtain an identity card for returning to Ukraine — the so-called “white passport”.
It is issued on the day of application:
- free of charge — for children under 16;
- for a consular fee — for adults.

In connection with the war in Ukraine and in pursuance of the King's Directive, the General Authority for Passport Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (JAWAZAT/PASSPORTS) officially decided on March 17, 2022 to extend the validity of visas for Ukrainian citizens for an additional 90 days.
Therefore, persons who were in the KSA at the time of the outbreak of a full-scale war in Ukraine by the aggressor country will be able to stay in the KSA for a total of 180 days without the need to leave the country.
IMPORTANT! Visa extensions for Ukrainian citizens will be carried out automatically (without the requirement to visit the Passport Authority offices in person) and without the requirement to pay any fees or fines.
However, persons who already had overstayed visas as of 24.02.2022 will not be automatically exempted from paying fines for exceeding the permitted period of stay in the Kingdom.
In case of any problems related to the above issue, please inform the Embassies by e-mail: [email protected] and [email protected], as well as contact the nearest branch of the KSA Passport Authority.
