The government has eased the process of returning to Ukraine for residents of the temporarily occupied territories (TOT). From now on, only a birth certificate is enough to return home. This is reported by the Ministry of Reintegration of Ukraine.
On October 13, Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk held a meeting of the interdepartmental working group on protecting the rights of citizens who need help returning to Ukraine. The corresponding group was created last week by the order of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. It will deal with the problems of obtaining or restoring documents of Ukrainian citizens who have left for third countries.
At the meeting, it was noted about Resolution No. 57 and changes in the Procedure for crossing the border, which allow all TOT residents to return from abroad only with a birth certificate.
The State Border Service will enter the data of minors into the database independently. Citizens over the age of 18 who have lost their documents will also be allowed through if they have a birth certificate. Then identification of the person will be carried out on the territory of Ukraine.
The Ministry of Reintegration also adds that soon the powers of Ukrainian consulates in Kazakhstan, Turkey, Georgia, Estonia and Latvia will be expanded. In this way, consulates will be able to issue a temporary identity card for returning to Ukraine faster.
"We cannot lose our citizens. That is why we have to work out a procedure for their return home as soon as possible. We will do everything to make them Ukrainians not only in their hearts, but also again according to their passports", - Iryna Vereshchuk emphasized.
