How to register as an unemployed in Poland: the amount of payments, conditions and preferences
Refugees in Poland can participate in programs for employment or finding business grants, study and/or undergo retraining. After a certain time, subject to compliance with certain parameters, it will be possible to register for unemployment. We will tell you how to do it.
Who can register as unemployed in Poland?
The following categories can register as unemployed in Poland:
• Foreigners who are allowed to stay in the country for humanitarian reasons in connection with international obligations or state interests;
• Foreigners who are family members of Polish citizens and live with them on the territory of the country;
• Foreign citizens who enjoy temporary protection in the republic;
• Citizens of EU countries;
• Holders of a long-term GNP in another European country in connection with the intention to find a job, open a business, start or continue studies in Poland;
• Foreigners who received a temporary residence permit due to the circumstances specified in Art. 114 and 127 of the Law on Foreign Citizens, provided that they have worked in the host country for 6 months before registration;
• Holders of a permanent residence permit in Poland.
The amount of unemployment benefits in Poland and the conditions for receiving them
Citizens of Ukraine who have issued a PESEL receive full access to all payments with the same rights as citizens of Poland.
Registering and obtaining the status of unemployed does not give the right to receive benefits automatically. Material assistance is paid to those for whom the employment center did not find a suitable vacancy, internship or training program.
It is also necessary to work for at least a year within 18 months before registration. This takes into account not only the amount of salary, but also the type of contract or its term. The salary in 2022 should not be lower than PLN 3,010 net.
Pay attention! The benefit is paid within 6-12 months. Its size is determined by length of service.
If you have worked for 5 to 20 years, you can count on a standard rate of PLN 1,240.80, which is 100%. You will receive this amount during the first three months. Those who have worked for less than five years receive 80%. Foreigners with more than 20 years of work experience have the right to count on 120%.
How to register as unemployed in Poland?

You can register fully or partially online. If you have a trusted profile or electronic signature, the entire procedure can be completed on this site. If not, you can apply for registration here. But in this case, to complete the procedure, you will have to visit the employment center in person.

Foreigners who have registered in Poland as unemployed can count on:
• Free medical insurance from 2023;
• Interventional or public works, or other opportunities to compensate for employment;
• Professional training or retraining;
• Co-financing of business opening;
• Material assistance for a child under 7 years of age or another dependent person.
